PSW505 Subwoofer Loses Sound

I have a 5 year old PSW505, with a 3 year old amp that was replaced by Polk. Currently, I am experiencing issues where the subwoofer gets sound for a few minutes after initially being hooked up to my receiver via an RCA cable. After a few minutes it loses signal and the light in the back turns red. Sound will come back sporadically here and there, but then nothing. Ive checked the connections, and both are securely plugged into the amp and the sub. Unfortunately, I do not have an alternate sub to test the receiver. Has anyone experienced this issue, if so what was the issue and was there a fix? I appreciate the help!
