Tony, we have been to Pigeon Forge about 7 times in the past 3 years and have recently switched to the town a little bit South of there. Gatlinburg. It's a little less "touristy" and you are more in the mountains. Been there a couple of times but recently stayed there. Looking forward to going back to Gatlinburg for a week and half (unless this crazy stuff is still going on) later on in the year. The resort we stay at is right on the outskirts of town and has killer views of (mostly) undisturbed mountains.
That area will be devastated by the lack of tourism without a doubt.

Hey Tom.
I spotted a Park Entrance sign in the heart of Gatlinburg. I went in and it was Beautiful.
It was like leaving the busy bustle of all the tourist traffic and being transported to the past of the pioneers. There's a great look-out hill in the middle of it that is just Spiritual. Like you said, a lot of untouched forest still exists on the outskirts.
I think all National Parks are closed now, and I think the one I mentioned is Federal. Maybe it's State run. I'll check now. I couldn't find it... BUT...A big list of Parks always pops up and I think it's Roaring Forks Park. I saw pics that look like what I saw.Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
I went out today at 4PM and wow, traffic was non-existent again. There was some traffic but where there's usually non-stop vehicles in 4 lanes, 2 going one way and the other 2 going the other, there were 5-10 cars each way AND we seemed to be spaced 60' apart...That was weird!
Our State...NC. is supposed to be a limited travel restriction come 5PM on Mon..
I guess there will be check points scattered about. This is weird too.
But it is so reassuring to see what I saw again today that thousands of people are staying at home to help save lives.
