No new blu ray players at CES. Are they on the way out? Should I go ahead and buy a really nice one, knowing that they are obsolete? I still would rather play blu ray discs. I imagine they will be around for some time, even if the blu ray players aren't made anymore.

8 tracks in a 64 Vega rocks. Why bother?

You need to let some of that gear out to play.

I plan to be a full-time Audio hermit when I get home. At least for a month or so:-)

    it's 2020 -- everybody streams, right?

Still -- I have it on good authority that the hip, happenin' types in Brooklyn and both Portlands are alll-in for videos on CED players. Analog, baby! All the cool kids are firin' up their Trinitrons and gettin down with RCA Selectavision. B)

... and, for the poseurs, of course, there's always...

I wouldn’t use CES as a guide, but Blue-Ray is decreasing in use. However, it is still a large market, especially for videophiles. I still buy and rent Blue-Rays, and have two Oppo 203s.

I would take more stock in CEDIA as a reference for home theater than CES. CES is sort of the Walmart of electronics shows...a little bit of everything. While CEDIA is much more of a focused show.
