Well all we know they are going to Tweeter and reducing at CC. They may have plans for another distributor to help fill in the gaps.

    HHHmmm ,

Anyone know when this is to go in effect at CC (no RTi line)?

Seems my 1yr speaker upgrade policy from CC may be full of holes soon .

    TIA

Someone posted that the CSi5 is on sale for $299, so it may have already started.

Yeah, I goofed. Forgot that Tweeter was picking up the RTi line.

Wow, this thread has really exploded. Everybody getting excited about the Monitor series and LSi finally showing up at a major retail store. Some good moves here. I do question why moving the RTi out of CC though. That I don't understand with all the Home Theater that those stores do.

Maybe Polk does read these threads we write and put a bug in Matt's ear...LOL...

what next?? Return of the SDA would mean Mardi Gras on Club Polk...LOL...:D Maybe they can do some 30 year anniversary thing.. one time deal limited editions.

As with most business decisions, this one is probably profit-motivated. I'm guessing Polk believes they can build volume -- sell more speakers at a lower price at CC, and leave the higher priced RTi and Lsi lines to Tweeter, where customers are able to pay more for higher quality.

I'll bet the new Monitor speakers will still beat out any other brand CC carries.

Also note that with the higher priced lines going to Tweeter, if you have a Tweeter chargecard, you can have up to a year or more to pay it off without interest! This is the number 1 reason I am ecstatic about Polk coming back to Tweeter. Otherwise, the these Polks would probably be out of my reach, and I do want to take my speakers to the next level providing I can find a solution to the weight problem.

    I will say this,
we will sell a ton of polk speakers. We install just about everything that goes out the door. Not many over the counter sales happen anymore.Install is what people what and professional we give them.

This move is to expose the Lsi line more then the rt series.the rt series I'm happy to have as well as the PSW series sub's,Inwalls and coming Sub Sat systems.Cool stuff.

Does Tweeter have speaker upgrade policy? If so, another great reason to shop there for Polks.

Only the moderator can start a sticky, and why bother, this thread will suffice.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I figured that a sticky voteing thread would help show Polk the percent of customers that would be negativaly effected more easly then having to read and desifer all the posts. I know I would have never even seen or coincidered Polks if it had not been for CC, I don't know what I would have went with but it sure would not have been Polks, there just isn't any high-end audio stores near me. The closest one that is desent (Audio Visions Akron/Canton, OH) is an 1.5hr (one way) away and none of them carry Polks. I'm sure that there are more that have not posted in this thread that are in that same boat. Now I sure that the decition has been made (since it has been announced) but I'm just not sure it was made after doing enough investagating. A questionair sent (E-mail or reg.mail) to all those that have bought Polks (like SVS did) asking those for their input on the subject would have been the way IMO to really find out the true best poss. solution.
It makes me wonder what is the result of Denons desition to pull 6th Ave from there on-line sellers list because of a few going on about there selling tactics (another one I would not have coincidered because of the lack of stores in my area), if it would have not been for this forum I would have taken another route for that one. I'm sure glad I took the advice on the Denon.
Then there's the advice on the sub I would have never in my wildiest dreams ever pulled the trigger on the SVS had it not been for this forum (I'm here as a result of buying their speakers). I guess what I'm getting at is that as a result of me and I'm sure others also, buying polks at CC I am able to get full enjoyment out of my HT. I would probably have ended up with a lesser HT and thought I was doing good.

    Just my 2 cents

I haven't bought anything at Tweeter for about 6 months, so I don't know if their policy has changed recently, but in my area they have had a one year trade up policy for speakers since Tweeter moved into the DC market a few years ago. It's not quite the same policy as Circuit City's though:

One year from date of purchase.
Full cost paid for current speakers applied to full retail cost of speakers upgrading to.
Speakers upgraded to must be worth at least 50 percent more than those currently owned.
Does not apply to product that was discontinued.
Current speakers have to be like new with all packing materials, or a prorated value is applied.

Tweeter does have some even better policies though. For home audio components, a buyer can do a trade up for 120 days. They also have a 60 day low price guarantee.

Talked to a rep today that said the Monitor series should hit the stores in July, so RTi discounts should be emminent.

i went to abc to get my polk you can haggle about the price and you can also do that at high end ht placeses i usaly get 10-15% off at hi end ht placeses and a bit more at abc warehouse.

i think the thing polk should have done is male the lsi line a 6 ohm speaker instead of a 4 they would have sold more.

I think the decision to pull the RTi's from CC sucks ****.

I, just like all but 2 or 3 in this th'd, live no where near a Tweeter store. (244 miles to nearest store, EFF that) Come to think about it, outside this forum, I've never even heard of Tweeter.

CC's 1 year upgrade plan is super. They give you 100% price paid, and let you buy speakers on sale. I picked up a pair of BRAND NEW RTi70's about 3 months ago for $300. Lets see Crotch-field match that.

I, too, would have never considered Polk Audio had it not been for CC. I've been familiar with Polk for about 12 years, because I've always received a Crotchfield catalog, but I'd never pay what Crutchfield wants. CC is 75% lower, if you wait for a clearance sale.

    I'm disappointed.

The new Monitor line will embody all of the principles that put Polk Audio on the speaker map in the 70's with the addition of modern driver technologies. When people see and hear this stuff they are going to be floored.

Later this week we will put out a press release on the Monitors with full details and I'll post it on the forum for you to read. Product web pages will go up by the end of the week.
