Musical Fidelity A5 on eBay

I found this on eBay but I never purchased electronics off eBay and a little apprehensive. If I get the unit and doesn’t work am I protected?

Yes, 30 days through both eBay and PayPal, and of course your credit card. And you can purchase an additional one year square trade warranty for $110.

I have bought many electronic items thought eBay mostly without issue, and when there is one it is pretty quickly and painlessly resolved fwiw...

No original box would make me wary. Most people don't know how to ship heavy items.

The item's location is very close to me, so let me know if I can assist in any way.

I'd be a little concerned, as well, with shipping something of its heft without the original box.

50/50. Personally, I'd try to hold out for one with OE box and packing, or talk to the seller to feel him out to see whether he's the type to care about proper packaging. If he's a weak communicator, walk on. If he's quick, friendly and forthcoming, may be worth exploring, but I don't know how one would properly pack one of these given its design with the cooling fins and big volume knob. Whatever you do if you buy it, take tons of photos when you receive it and as you open it. Do not open the top cover or try to fix anything broken or loose should that happen. Just make sure it works before doing anything else.

How far are you from there? Any chance of local pickup?

Thanks Drew. I am getting a consensus this may not be the one.

Yeah I would like to be able to ask questions and get a better sense of the seller, no original box and remote, I can wait.

I would say the price is a little high with it missing the remote and oem box... be patient, another will show up. Don’t count out the A308 either. I know it’s rated at a little less power but you wouldn’t know that listening to it.

If your still looking, there is an A5 for sale on Chicago's craigslist for 900, with remote. I'd buy it myself if I had the scratch right now.

I looked as well all I found was the A5 CD player. Too bad it didn't play SACD or I might just of pulled the trigger.

I'd talk to him definitely. Ask if he can guarantee it works, with no strange noises, hum, static. 900 is a good price, and like I said, I'd be all over this if I had the cash.
