Re: mounting components on x-over board

I'm still in the component-gathering stage of re-doing my Monitor 7s, but I have questions brought about by viewing x-over photos on this site.
What is the foam-looking material seen under components on the original x-overs? Should it be re-used? If not, then what is utilized?
Also, I have read past discussions, but what is current consensus on securing components to board? Zip ties? Hot glue?
Thanks in advance for your response.

Zip ties + 3M foam double sided tape is what I used. It worked well enough. Hot glue is another option, but I don't have a glue gun. Come to think of it my wife might have one, I should ask her.
Edit: Just looked at my Amazon account. Looks like I used Scotch branded mounting tape.
Scotch Brand 051131762718 Scotch Foam Mounting Tape, 1/2-inch x 150-inches, White, 1-RollSDA SRS 2.3tl, SDA 1C, SDA 2B (TL mod), Reserve 200 -

3M VHB tape provides a bit of a cushion and an extremely high bond. Zip ties are still a good idea, call it insurance. Hot glue doesn't bond well to the slick nature of film/foil capacitor covers.Political Correctness'.........defined

I personally have only used hot melt glue in the inductors. Not a lot just a good bead along the top and inside across the hole. High bond tape and zip ties on caps. Never hot melt resistors, I've also never used foam or dual sided tape. I just raise them off the board just a bit for air flow as they can get very hot. They do need some air flow to dissipate heat IMO.
