I am hoping I don't need them but I figure I may as well get some ideas. As much as I would like to move up the Usher chain I can't see myself spending 20k on speakers 10k maybe???

Maybe I should just quit this hobby or be happy with my 707's?
-
Oh yeah, The room is about 14'x 20' with the ceiling sloping from about 8' to 18'.
-
Buy the Ushers and use the 707's as kindling in your fireplace in order to heat that big living room.
-
Perhaps, but they sure look purdee.
A true statement piece but I don't think that I will be letting anyone in my house to see them let alone stay long enough to listen to them. "No you can't check them out, go away get your own speakers Mom!" -

Maybe these:With acouple of these? Or maybe I should just look for a different house and save some money?

That set up could even make Taylor Swift sound good... well not even that. The only thing that could make Taylor Swift sound good would be feeding her into a wood chipper feet first.

If this is for your main system, I wouldn't take any advice. I would go listen to as many sets of speakers I could and choose which direction to go from there. That's what I did and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Even with hind sight being 20/20. IMO/IME/FWIW and all that crap. To each their own.

I would but this growth on my ankle doesn't allow me to leave the house. Anyway Tom, what did you end up getting? -
No, this is the one I got.
-
A pair of Altec A2s should fill any room reasonably well.
I would recommend upgrading to 1505 horns up top... cause... why not?
-
@mhardy6647 my house has windows and I would prefer to keep it that way.

This was what I wanted in a speaker, so I ran with it and then went to the extremes. Could not be happier with the end result.

Sonus Faber Olympica III or Focal Electra 1038 BE would be near the top of my list.
My music room is almost identical in size to the room you’ve mentioned and my SF Venere S speakers do an awesome job.
The Focal 1038 BE would be slightly higher for me on the list just because they can be had, brand new, for about $6k and you’ll have some left over for other areas you may want to improve. -

(in the old days, their name included the exclamation point!)
I guess that photo from the post above is the CLS-215.

That model appears to have been superseded by the XLS-215. The biggest difference appears to be that the MR waveguide isn't frowning any more.
http://www.cerwinvega.com/home-audio/floorstanding-speakers/xls-215.htmlSimply the biggest, baddest tower on the market, the XLS-215 features two cast frame high excursion 15-inch woofers and delivers earth-shaking bass down to 36 Hz. With guaranteed "eviction notice" performance, the XLS-215 also features a 6.5-inch mid-range speaker and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter coupled to a proprietary waveguide.

I mean... if you're gonna go that route, might as well go for the gusto, you know?

No kidding, I stopped looking at gear and got all fat and happy pretty much when I got my Ushers and 707's sounding right. -
I do like em though, they remind me of Hot Wheels.

well, in 2020, I mean, you never know.
There are probably folks walking around today -- possibly even operating heavy machinery -- who don't know that Pluto used to be a planet.

They should easily fill a room that size.Political Correctness'.........defined

If not, a good sized Rhytmik sub would fill in the rest.

I am moving the dancers to the "big" room. Was asking in case they don't work out. I got the smaller Ushers in that room now. -
Gotcha.
