Chris, first off....congratulations! Secondly, if you ever get these bad boys properly powered? You are in for a treat.

I also took these off his hands for free. He already parted them out but the wood on these is in great shape and they appear to be for the most part the same dimensions as the others. I I figured I may be able to use some of the wood to replace the damaged bottoms on mine.

Anyone have anybody's on how to clean that bottom driver. It does not appear to be cat pee. No bad odors. Maybe mold?

I can already tell I will be replacing the foam on the back that go on the mids and I will have to reseal the woofer cabinets.

Oh any any suggestions on cleaneing the wood? I'm not touching them until I know I'm not going to make it worse. They need a little TLC.

That's a long story. Short of it is, I took them and ran. Did not hear. They were out in a shed wrapped up and I did not want to go back inside the house just to hook them up and listen to them. I just wanted to leave with them.

    Again, long story

IME, no. It may work but they will not be properly powered. BTW, @F1nut would be the go-to guy 'round here for restoring wood. I have seen his work and it is outF'nstanding. The man knows a thing or two about woodworking.

The glue or adhesive at the dust cap looks....um......rather discombobulated. Might want to contact a professional speaker re-builder for that and see what they say or just wait for someone here to chime in. I don't recall ever seeing that before. I just hope he didn't cook them to make them appear that way.

Many adhesives become more amber or golden colored with aging. Hopefully that is all it is and not that the voice coils got overheated.

Haha....I was using it in slang (from my HS days). It pretty much meant FUBAR to the crew back in the day......and there is your trivial **** for today. School is now out of session.

from https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/carver/tfm-45.shtml They don't seem to give any specs regarding 2Ohm impedance loads. Perhaps if you put a Zobel Network across the speaker terminals it might prevent any high frequency instabilities from damaging the amplifier:

Dang.... I should have kept my Parasound 2250 v2.

I really would not be pushing these to extreme levels as I afraid of cooking one of those expensive EMIT tweeters.

I'll keep on eye on the Carver's temp.

Debating on bringing them in tonight to try them out.

Good idea might be to also keep a fire extinguisher handy.

I found a copy of the speaker manual. Did you get the "Low Frequency Equalization Unit" with your purchase? http://www.davidsaudio.com/rs2a-b-manual.pdf

Not shown in this clip but the Infinity manual says 75W to 400W into 4 Ohm load is ok for the amplifier. If you are biamping the tweeters and midranges need 75W to 300W into a
4 Ohm load. They definitely state they are 4 Ohm nominal impedance speakers.
Unfortunately I haven't found an impedance curve vs. Frequency anywhere yet. x2faf60j5spq.png

It's all good. I waisted about 30 min reading that manual before you sent it before I noticed it was the wrong one!

Ok..... they hooked up now. At first I thought the bottom woofers were out but after looking at the schematic I see they are crossed over differently 125 and 60 hz. So I think it's good. I'll throw a 50 hz signal at it later to make sure. But for right now I like them very much. Both front and rear tweeters are working as well as the 6 mids.

    More to follow.

This is what YPAO room correction did to the left and right speaker. It does sound better with the correction on. And my room had great acoustics treatments.
