Testing the waters FS

Ok so I have changed my mind. Don’t think there is anything that will compete with these unless I’m willing to drop $5k+. Which I’m not.
    Nevermind, off market.

I love my S300 and I understand the M700 is a whole ‘nuther animal ... much better than the 300 ....

Nice to know you like them that much !

I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled in the future ....

Edit - glad you decided to keep them ..... the wheels were turning in my head ....

Yeah, I think I was just having the itch (not the one Russ has) and was wanting to get something new. Logic set in and I remembered why these were a steal at $3k let alone the price I got them.

Would need to get a JC5 or above to get anything other than a lateral move.

    Audioluvr,

Curious as to what you actually had done to your B&K amps .....

    I have a EX-442 I bought new in ‘89-‘90 or so ....
Had it looked over by a tech 18 months ago and he adjusted the offset and bias ...
One side was running noticeably warmer than the other ...
That’s about all he did ...... said it was “good to go”....
Not really sure how “qualified” he was on B&K’s , ‘tho ....
I gave him all the schematics and adjustment procedure / instructions....

Wondering how much more life mine has in it .....

    Thanks

    Bk

I don't remember specifics but I basically told him make them better than new. I know he checked values on everything, replaced all the electrolytic caps with as good or better new, I think he replaced a resistor or two that was out of spec, replaced the power caps with new computer grade, larger value caps (each mono had 4ea. 15,500uF 75w and were replaced with 22,000uF 100w), reflowed solder joints, refreshed thermocouple fluid or whatever it is between the output transistors and heat sinks, deoxit'd any switches, readjusted the DC output and bias and load tested them on his scope (or something).
