I agree with the sentiment of this post, some do have a knack of bashing n0obs, and, I think as a forum we should welcome them without bashing. Bash them later when you know them and they've exhibited arseholish tendencies.

Can't we all just get along? :)

This is an issue with just about every forum I've been associated with in regard to n00bs. Every forum needs to treat n00bs better as that is how they grow even if their questions are dumb.

Now if someone joins and acts like an expert from the beginning, I have no problem with someone testing their knowledge and they shouldn't take offense to that. If they do, well that's their problem.

Just remember everyone has to start somewhere in their knowledge of an industry or hobby.

BTW I have no issues as to how I have been treated here and if I did I would post them.

    So, preach to someone else.

So says the preacher. Yes we may all be somewhat "rough" on one another occasionally but from what I've gathered here, the ones who can take ship as well as receive it stick around and support one another. Any new members generally always get the appropriate welcomes, required needed information and a small amount of ribbing with a wink to test their survivability in this family.

John, this is akin to Greta Thornburg eating out of a one time use plastic dip canister filled with dip for her chips, a one time use plastic bag of chips, not one but TWO plastic water bottles and using one time use plastic silverware, all while being driven by a massive diesel guzzling locomotive while she lectures us about the use of plastics and fossil fuels.

You single handedly stopped me from posting on the Sous-Vide thread because of the exact opposite of what you are promoting here. Our "relationship" started on the Black Paint thread. Not one damned thing has changed. Don't play the angel.

Merry Christmas and all that crap.

I sometimes feel like an old lady Jesse. I am offended at your comment. Ok, maybe not so much because I don't usually sound like an old lady. (Usually)....

Also, I read the thread title, and assumed John meant it was Christmas time, and soon to be New Years. Meaning it's time to get sloshed.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I pity the poor slob that's going to end up as Greta's boyfriend someday. That misguided child acts like a miserable old hag and she's barely past puberty.

  • The Black Paint thread. Man, what a classic !!
The jstas/treitz feud/"disagreement" almost started WWIII from what I understand😳

    LMAO....but truth spoken.

John's message is right, but it won't change a thing as the forum has been that way since day 1. Yes, some of us can be jerks, no doubt, but many times it has been the newb that brings it down on himself.

They come here seeking advice, then don't want to believe the advice given, then the pile on ensues. They usually start by insulting the advice, the person giving it, or Polk in general. That my friends is a magnet for snarky remarks. Don't think so ? Go to another forum and express some opinions and see how your met.

Personally I think we've gotten much better at this over the years. Everyone has got to start somewhere in this audio thing. It's a journey, not a race, and we poke and prod folks in a direction that suits them, we hope anyway. No need to make a mountain out of a mole hill as they say, It's Christmas....chill.
