Looking for advice on a 50-55" TV

I have a Panasonic 50" S64 plasma from Costco I'm looking to replace with a 4K set. The S64 is basically the S60 with the ST60 anti-glare screen.

I'm not going to replace my main VT-60 yet but this one will serve the upstairs for a few years. Not looking for the most expensive tv, this will be an interim set so I'm trying to stay under $600.

The stand has a VESA mount, and the top glass may hold a 55" but no larger...designed for a 50".

Not sure if I want the QLED, but I do want minimal motion blur...that's a big priority.

I haven't kept up with the new sets so all input appreciated.

Vizio or TCL is probably your best bet in that price bracket new.

I just ordered a TCL 55S525 off Amazon. Will be used by my son for gaming. I'm tired of him hogging the main system, so he's getting the boot!

I have yet to see a 4K set that looks better to me than my 2010 Panasonic plasma. Sure, there are no Best Buy Magnolia stores in the state (Vermont), but I bought my current set in the same store and I have not been impressed with anything I have seen in there yet.

I have a Hisense H8F 55" ULED TV and it is pretty good but there are caveats.

Looking at hi-def (1080p) is not very rewarding so, unless you are watching 4K content exclusively, the picture quality on your Panasonic plasma will trounce the 4K set (I should know as I have a Panasonic TH-50PZ850U 50-inch Viera). No way the ULED is going to be as good as the plasma on the motion blur (non-existent on my plasma). 4K content looks pretty sweet and you will save a ton of $ on energy costs.

I have been researching 50" TVs this past week because I want to get a good, but not too expensive, second TV for the bedroom and those TCL TVs gets excellent reviews (better reviews than Samsung in that size/price range). Amazon currently has the 50" TCL (50S425) on sale for only $239 ! Walmart currently has it for $249. That is a great deal and I am pretty certain I will be getting one of those myself any day now. Of course, I do not expect the picture quality to be as good as my 60" Panasonic plasma main TV but the TCL looked pretty good to me when I checked it out at my local Walmart a few days ago.

Definitely vizio or tcl. I have a 50” vizio p series and my wife has the equivalent of the the tcl 6 series and they are great TVs. They dominate the lower price brackets with great bang for buck TVs

As long as it's a Sony it's all good nothing against other brands but Sonys reliability makes me go to them every time I want a new one. However some of the OLED LG ones I seen at Costco has me somewhat interested.

I also own a high end Sony and Samsung. For 4 times less than the cost of both of those TVs, the vizio and tcl are simply remarkable. I love my Q80 and 930e, by if I had 600 bucks I’d be buying a vizio or tcl all day

You might be able to find a flagship Sony used on Craigslist within that budget. A 930c or later should obliterate anything new in that price range.

I did wander into BB today and they had a 55" X950G for $1K

    Looked quite nice.

    Hmmm Costco Samsung 6 series 50" $280.

I like my Samsung's, they even went through the mother in-law test. On-off about 100+ times a day.

Costco 2 year warranty is hard to beat. If a TV last more than a year then it will last a long time.
