What are some good sources for audio quality capacitors? I'm considering at least replacing my power caps in my mono amps. They each have 4 15,500 @75v Phillips screw tops.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can use higher or lower value capacitors, so long as you do not alter the voltage. EBay can be a good source, as well as Mouser.

Thanks John. I did look on eBay but didn't find what I needed plus not sure I want to trust something vintage that someone found on a shelf. Do electrolytics have a shelf life?Post edited by Lostsoul123 onAll tube designed Hello Kitty boom box

YES
That being said I've seen that brand use in many things. Best to just ask questions and go from there. Size is also a huge consideration as well.

@rebelsoul the OP needs 75v caps, not 100v caps. The uf rating can be higher or lower but the voltage has to be the same."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Why? Why can you not go up in voltage? Many if us go up in voltage for electrolytic caps. Heck my Adcom preamp calls for 25 volt yet adcom themselves chose 35v for better ESR reasons in the end.
Not disputing Ryan I'm here to learn. Yes lower would certainly be a problem boom. -

You most certainly can go up in voltage, but never down. For main filter caps in the power supply, you can also go up in capacitance, but never down.
Also pay attention to temperature rating and ESR...
I would also strongly suggest you avoid eBay for large filter caps - Chinese counterfeits are abundant. Further, a “new” capacitor selling on eBay May have been sitting on the shelf for 15 years. Buy from reputable sources like Mouser, Digikey, B&D Enterprises, Online Components, etc...Too much gear, too little time.... -

I concur one can go up in voltage and capacitance.
I've had good luck finding what I needed at Tedss but not all of the time. I've used the reputable electronics places above as well as ebay. eBay has been hit or miss.
For reference sake, other places to get caps.

Well I decided to open up my bad amp and do an inventory of possible needed caps (there are actually very few). I took one of the big power caps out to get the numbers off them and figured while I was in there I'd deoxit all terminals. To my amazement, it now is dead silent upon start up and shut down! Guess I'd better do the other one now.All tube designed Hello Kitty boom box

I concur, as others have mention you can use the same values or up in voltage and capacitance. I did a full rebuild of my Dad’s Sansui AU-6900 from 1975. The original spec called for 15,000uf modern replacements where much smaller and higher in capacitance. I replaced it with the closes physical match which was rated at 22,000uf at the same voltage and 1mm less in diameter.
I went a bit wild. All the other electrolytics are Elna or Nichicon premium audio grade.
Fully rebuilt, all the parts in the photo where replaced. Hopefully good for another 40 years.
