Very nice tribute to your father. It paints a great picture of your father as a man as well as an admirable relationship between father and son. His last moments are touching and though sorry for your loss, I am happy your family got those final moments.

Thanks again to everyone for your kind words. We're down at my folks' house this weekend, moving my mom into assisted living - she has dementia.

Tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of my Dad's passing, which started this thread, so a little self-indulgence here with some recent follow-up.

Last weekend, my wife and I went down to the house on an overnight trip, focusing on the continued clean-out effort in the garage. I've made several posts here on CP regarding various vintage gear that I have found down there, but here are a few more gems. My wife made one initial discovery, but then we went back and staged some pics.

Notice the three boxes sitting on top of the desk. The box on the right is somewhat obscured by the bumper cover and car seat beads.

Here are those boxes open (with car speakers holding the top flaps open):
    9j23aa8s6p5g.jpg
I didn't write-down the makes/models, but do remember a few details. The four in the left box (from bottom to top) are a Sony, Garrard (GT-35?), MCS, and Sansui P-mount on top. Middle box (bottom to top) are Elac, Pioneer, and Technics. Box on right is (bottom to top) are Sony, Technics, Kenwood, and Dual (determined CS-630Q)

If you've been keeping count, that's 11 turntables! This garage has been the gift that keeps on giving :) Needless to say, I've got my work cut out for me checking these tt's out B)

I didn't bring the tt's home yet, but did bring home a few other pieces of gear. I found a Flame Phase Linear 400 power amp:
    equsdk6ayaec.jpg
This amp didn't pass the DBT, so is not going anywhere near my speakers. I may send it to a restoration service that specializes in restoring, modding, and upgrading this line of amps from Bob Carver. I have zero dollars in the unit, so am willing to invest a little if it helps with resale.

Next, an Akai GX-77 R2R tape deck:

This one doesn't play, but there are a few good resources on the web. It is a quirky tape deck, and has some known issues, but there appears to be a somewhat cult following for them, perhaps due to their compact size and auto-reverse feature.

Also brought home a Vandersteen OL-1 MC phono head amp, which I have yet to try-out. Just crazy the gear I have pulled from down there.

Ha! :D Truth is: most of them are veneer on pressboard, and in at least one case: wood-simulated vinyl veneer on pressboard.

His passion for audio stuff mirrors mine for sure. I had 14 Turntables years ago. ;)

I found a pair of audio acoustics in a ditch many years ago. 12" clear woofers.
Of course I brought them home. I think I JUST threw their woofers away a month ago. Maybe not... :p

I'm sure he had hours upon hours of excitement after bringing each and every piece home and listening to their sound. I sure have enjoyed every found, bought or had given to me pieces of audio stuff ( and cassette tapes too <3 ) over the years. <3

Thanks for still sharing many of his life's pleasures with us. o:)

Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
