Not much worse than a bad DAC, IMHO.

so i build 8 sound panels and wanted to mount them in my L shaped room. I have to keep ascetics in mind.
Based on my L shaped room layout and dimensions. I can get 3 on one wall and 2 on the other (see red lines). the purple line is a line of blackout curtains and i build panels to slide into the windows behind it but I cant get any more panels on the wall there. I was thinking of building stands for the remaining 3 and placing them in the opening to the leg of the L. see green lines.
would this be benificial?

i added some room treatments on the left and right wall. i will say the sound stage has never been better. it has expanded way beyond the positioning of the 2 speakers to the left and right. Almost can hear things coming directly parallel from my seating position now.
also have found that recordings make a world of difference. some tracks sound like crap but if I get a different recording of it .. it comes alive.
One thing I have also found is higher volumes make things sound better. Is that just cause of the volume of the room? -
You are not getting all those reflections anymore that only serve to make the music sound harsh and grating at higher volumes. Yeah that's a common phenomenon that I have experienced.
Here's some data that I have gathered from my research towards building my own panels so far. The rigid boards are nigh onto unavailable in my area unfortunately, and the shipping costs can be exorbitant.
