VPN Service

I just started with IPVanish but the speeds are horrible. I've tried changing my protocol, servers and ports to no avail. When the VPN is off I get 348 mb downloads. When it's on I'm lucky to get 25 mb and usually end up below 10mb sometimes below 3mb. I still have a few days on my 7 day trial. I already paid for a year of service.
I'm in central FL.
I was looking into expressVPN and NordVPN . This would be being used on a FireStick.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I use Torguard. On my phone through Wi-Fi I get 18.5 with it on I'm getting 8.9. I'd have to check my actual pc.

So I just checked again and got 392 down with it off then .89. Yes .89 not 89 but .89 with it on. Horrible and frustrating!
I may try Nord tomorrow.
Thanks guys -
Curious topic. How did you guys arrive at your choices, how did you sort through the junk services, and what were your reasons for going with a VPN?
Reason I ask is that VPNs seem really popular, but I wonder if people really know what they're getting. I seem to happen across stories here and there about how some don't really protect your data, won't guarantee anonymity, and can't support adequate throughput.I disabled signatures. -

Ask the folks that got in trouble with torrent sites behind proxy and vpn. Did not go well for them.
Nothing is bullet proof. Against amateurs, yes. Even then, they may happen upon your identity.

VPN = Very Polite Nuances?

I am leery of 'fly by night' VPNs, FWIW. My experience with erstwhile employers' VPNs was outstanding -- but I assume the VPNs used by enterprises are (economically) unfeasible or just unavailable for onesie-twosie users.

PIA, best I've found. $40.00 for the year, and a huge number of servers all across the globe. I've been using them for several years.
They keep zero records.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Just tried it again on my phone no VPN - 40.7 with VPN in Toronto 11. They do not keep records either and I was able to get 1/2 price for life for their service.

Whose life? Yours, or the "service's"?

I use VPN Express and works good in many places. But you have to try different serves if you are out of the country.
Many times I have no problems watching Netflix, Hulu and others from China.

Just tested my Nord. From 266 to 145. Significant slowdown but still more than good enough for my needs._________________________________________________
