How does one change the operating voltage inside a component

Help or guidance from the manufacturer is not possible at this time…

Any thoughts on how to convert this 230v unit to 115v?

PCB wizards and electrical engineers please step forward🤣🤣

Thanks in advance!

From the looks of it, you MIGHT be able to just move those clips. Although I would not do that until you have verification from the manufacturer, or have sufficiently googled to be sure. :) What is it? I'd be happy to do a little digging.

And also, I am NOT an electrical engineer, so try the above at your own risk! You need a lightman for that.

Looks like you unplug that four pin connector from 230 and pop it in where it says 115. :)
EDIT: Well... both of the four pin connectors :p
Note that there are locks on the plugs that need to be pried back to remove the connectors from the sockets.

    I assume if you're asking, you don't have a Variac or a step-down transformer handy. :)

I would check the transformer to see if there is another set of wires with those plugs on the end for 115V, just in case.

It certainly is possible that a simple transfer of plugs would bring the desired results, but I would want to know for sure from a reliable source, or several sources, before trying it myself.

I am not sure it is that easy. Are the wires coming from the transformer and supplying 220V? If they are and you plug them in to the 115V input bad things can happen. There are also places marked 220 and 115 on the PCB. Is one of them jumpered?

You need to check the voltages coming out of the transformer (be careful). If you can't find the wires supplying 115 (maybe center tapped?) you are out of luck. Even if you do you will need to understand the circuit to get it to run.

I would look for somebody in your area that works on audio equipment, and either pay him to do the conversion. If he isn’t familiar with your particular product, he could recommend somebody who,is familiar with it.

    Thanks for all the input!
Problem is, I’m not in possession of this. So no tinkering is possible
Only thing to go off of (at this time) is the picture
I’m toying with the idea of buying a European DAC and converting it to 110v

I was hoping for easy peasy

Doubt I’ll have much luck, but if there’s a will, there’s a way. Just don’t wanna get burned in the process

    On to plan B . . .

If the manufacturer is still in business, you could try to contact them. It could still be easy peasy.

or, even if not, perhaps the service manual's available @, e.g., https://www.hifiengine.com/manual-library.shtml

That is almost one complete knowledge base… Thanks Doc!

Unfortunately, North Star Design is not included in the list. I’m interested in their TOTL Venti because I fell in love with their second banana offering. Supremo

If the deal doesn’t go through on the Venti, I may get a 2nd Supremo as a back up.
    It’s that good . . . and I know how it’s wired!

Probably best to shoot NorthStar an email, along with that pic, model year, and ask. I wouldn't be at ease with anything less than straight from the horses mouth.

I’ve got nothing. I’d be tempted to just swap the plugs, but I’m just a mechanical engineer!
