JBL 4628B Professional speakers , how can I test them?
Just pick up a clean pair for fun and profit . Can I just hook a guitar jack into receiver headphones out and plug into one speaker to test them? I only know one person in a band and he has not gotten back to me yet? Thanks. D

You probably wouldn't want to do that, but, you can get RCA to 1/4 inch cables.

It's a passive speaker, not a powered one, right?
And it accepts a two-conductor "TS" (tip/sleeve) type phone plug, right?
If so, you should just need to solder a 1/4 inch two conductor phone plug onto the "plus" ( via the plug's 'tip' -- the center connector) and and "minus" (via the plug's 'sleeve' -- the outer conductor) wires of a speaker cable.
Or use a coupla clip leads.
Or buy one.
I always keep a few in stock

Not to go all Cliff Clavin on you , but a standard stereo headphone plug is a three conductor connector -- so-called "TRS" (tip-ring-sleeve) -- to accommodate two 'hot' signals (two channels) and a common (ground).
The TRS 1/4 inch phone plug can also be used for balanced line-level connections ("+" and "-" hot signals and a ground)... not really used for speakers per se.

Actually, a guitar cable ought to work, as long as it is two conductor. Hard to say which channel you'll get, but it doesn't really matter.
Also, on the bright side, the JBLs oughta be sensitive enough to play fairly well even driven from a headphone jack
EDIT: mmm... those look like tonnes of fun.

Don't flip 'em -- hook 'em to a nice single-ended 2A3 or 300B vacuum tube amplifier and...well... it oughta be pretty nice.

Could I just hook speaker wires up to two terminals with holes in them on your picture? These are the non powered ones as in your picture. https://us.v-cdn.net/5021930/uploads/editor/0x/6q1bxinctj4r.png

it depends on where the contact point is on the phone jack on the speaker.
It will probably work, actually.
I'd offer to beta-test it here (with clipleads!) but I don't really have time this morning due to other obligations, unfortunately.
Clipleads are wonderful things!
Everyone should have a bag full!

Didja give 'em a listen yet?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Worked 13 hours yesterday. Have not even unloaded from my Tundra yet. Hopefully I can figure out how to remove grills easily?
After inspecting, I will work on figuring out how to hook up correctly without damaging. Thanks. Thanks for all the help. Pulled grills off. They look perfect behind the screens. Outer cabinets need some black or color choice paint redu. Anyone know where to buy black paint? Heavy suckers. I would guess 80-100 pounds each.

If it were anything but black paint...

Finally getting around to testing these bad boys. Which of the three connectors do I hook up to? Thanks. D

hmmm -- it looks like (???) there's no full range input (?!).
Is there something under that piece of blue painter's tape?
If there is, I'd use that, otherwise, I'd try pluggin' in to that (apparently) "8 ohm low frequency input" and see if you only 'excite' the woofas (which is presumably what'll happen).
Seems like they 'want to be' biamplified... which is certainly an option to try 'em out!
