Tom Cruise said in the beginning, the only way he would do the movie was no CGI.

They may have restored a Tomcat to flight status for this as well... I hope that’s the case, as I think the military should preserve at least one aircraft of a significant type in a flightworthy status to honor those that served in a capacity to keep them ready to fight.

    Shoo-wee, that looks good.
Looks like Iceman'll be back for it, too.

Watched on the little office rig, in full screen, turned up. Even just the trailer is a bit exhilarating.

I assume that quick flash to the F-14 at the ~20 second mark was just an ode to days gone by? This should be a fun one for next year.

This is what has me very curious....the windshield isn't high enough to be an SR-71, but has the slight contour. His helmet looks to be the type of the U2/ SR-71.

He's talking to the Admiral in a high altitude flight suit in the trailer, so it's probably supposed to be some reconnaissance aircraft he's involved in testing.

Say what you want about Tom Cruise, and there's a lot you could say, but the dude knows how to act and make entertaining movies. I'll definitely be seeing this.

My point is 8K is much closer that many care to admit and why many have not put much effort into 4K programming. By the time I buy a 4K TV there will be 10K :p

That's what I was talking about earlier. At that angle, you would see the HUD and the top of the IP frame in the shot. It looks to me like a movie prop cockpit got digitally inserted into the shot.

A button would be a very bad idea, given that after a couple milliseconds, the canopy is gone, and the seat would have cleared the rails on its way to being at least 450 feet away from the rest of the jet. Ejection seats have face curtains, which is the preferred method for use, or a "D" ring between the pilot's legs.

The "D" ring forces the pilots elbows up and outward, which may expose them to being hit against things in the cockpit. The face curtain brings the elbows down and inward, which is the safest way to exit a damaged jet...
