Bond?

Let me say first off that I'm a 007 fan, have been for years. I have the movies and will also be purchasing the new Bond 25 to add to my collection. I am not racist, have nothing against women in films for small or strong lead roles and could care less.

However, I do not agree with the new hoopla concerning the new Bond about being a female after Daniel Craig leaves. 007 has never been a female and, for me, will never be. It's just plain wrong. Bond's character over the many years since the '60's has been pretty consistent. It's a male role, period.

I guess, for me, Bond 25 will be my last Bond film. They've lost me as a devoted Bond fan for any new movies, not that it matters...

Huge mistake. The Bond franchise was pretty much dead, but Daniel Craig brought it back, possibly stronger than ever. Now they are going to kill it with their choice, morons!!!

    They've lost me.

We do not yet know the name of the new 007, only that 007 will be female. To me, the only hope they had of passing the torch to a female character would have been to have Daniel Craig's Bond be killed in the next installment, and a long lost daughter stepping in somehow to avenge his loss.

Even that is a stretch, but with the way they are doing it, there is zero chance anyone will connect with the new one.

If it is the lady who is being talked about as taking over the 007 role in a couple years after Daniel Craig’s character sails off into the sunset in this year’s movie, she looks like she could snap him like a twig in real life. It’s entertainment so I’ll look forward to the future movies being something different for a change. She doesn’t look like she has the personality to carry off the role of a 00X whatever yet, but people said that about Daniel Craig too.

I am a life-long Bond fan - I remember fondly the “Bond marathons” over the Christmas break, and have enjoyed the franchise a great deal. In my humble opinion, Bond get really hokey around the Timothy Dalton era (Semis doing wheelies was the worst), and struggled to recover until Craig. He brought a grittiness and believability to the franchise that it frankly has never had. Now that it’s just getting back to it’s feet, Hollywood is pulling the rug out from under it.

For me, the Bourne franchise started putting the nails in the Bond coffin about a decade ago. The John Wick franchise is driving some nails as well. I hope the studio realizes their potential blunder here, and saves the franchise, as it would be a shame to lose it...

"Sources say" the next 007, not the next Bond, will be portrayed by black female British actress Lashana Lynch.

I don't mind them taking the franchise in different directions (expanding it) similar to the way Star Trek has been taken in different directions with different Enterprises, different crews, different captains, and different time periods. I don't have any problem with Spock being played as a Vulcan male by different actors, in different times, in different situations. What I don't like is reimagining iconic characters. I would have been against reimagining Spock as a little green man (or woman, or "it") from Mars.

Lashana is in the light blue pants suit in the pictures below. I don't know about snapping Craig like a twig, but she looks like she could hold her own in a fight, perhaps even better than Bambi and Thumper when they went up against Sean Connery's 007.

Daniel suffered a serious foot injury while filming this latest Bond. He probably needs one for comfort and support and rather than have them mismatched decided to where both sneakers.

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/23/entertainment/daniel-craig-bond-injury/index.html

He has turned out to be my favorite Bond finally edging out Roger Moore for me. Mainly because they kept the storylines realistic and relied on good storytelling and believable stunts. But at 51 years old, I think he realizes it's time to let the role go as his broken ankle has proven.

Hopefully, they find another young but not too young an actor to portray Bond and match Daniels physicality.

He IS still a bad a** 007 to me too.

How about that "Lady with the Dragon Tattoo" girl playing a 008 or 007 if they want to go there. I thought the girl was perfect for a bad a** figure. She could change her looks completely. ;)

My good brain half was telling me something was off with that first name but I didn't listen to it!!!! Really!

There was a name with the picture when I saw the picture and I just copied it.

What a dumb mistake I made!!!! You can tell I don't follow the Kardashians or the Jenners hardly at all. I did think Bruce was great in the Olympics though.
