i couldn't describe the sound of the cables any better than this.

now have the Organic Audio RCA interconnects hooked up from the splendid Neodio NR22 CD player to the Trafomatic Audio Experience Two 300B amplifier. Or to state it more correctly, I have had the cable in and out of the system previously, but am only doing a critical listening evaluation now.

One feature I really like with the Organic and Argento cables are their flexibility, they are easy to install and uninstall, and to route / arrange (“dress up” in audiophile lingo). Like the Argento Serenity interconnects, the Organic Audio cables are directional, with arrows engraved in the copper connectors. These arrows are not easy to see though, one may need a torchlight while installing in dim light.

One conclusion I can derive out of trying various types of Argento and Organic cables is that they are similar in their sonic characteristic of not being suitable as “tone controls”, partly (more on that later). Rather, I would think that they just serve as a conduit of sonic signals with the least loss possible.

If one needs a thicker sound, look elsewhere. However, when one wants to cure an overly thick-sounding system (bloated is another term, or bloomy, dull, muddy*), then one can consider the well-balanced Argento and Organic cables to help cure the malady. (* Click here for a list of audiophile terms)

The Organic Audio interconnects have a very similar quality in the system as that from the Argento Audio Serenity interconnects. It made me imagine Organic Audio’s designers going through countless tests of different copper conductors to sound as close as possible to what they have achieved in their Argento Audio line. I can certainly say that they have done a fantastic job.

Consumers in Hongkong who claimed that Organic Audio cables do not sound like typical high-end copper cables are spot on in their assessment, the Organic Audio interconnects have many of the qualities of its silver Argento counterpart. The Argento Serenity silver had as its main attributes excellent air, space, soundstage width and depth, low-level detail. The Organic Audio shares all these same attributes, but to a lesser degree. Low-level detail were all there with the Organic Audio interconnects, just less pronounced than from the Serenity. The sonics from the Serenity also had a more expansive spatial quality.

Not as good as the Argento Serenity ? It was expected, the Argento Serenity is a higher model, and with a different conductor type, and priced higher accordingly. On the other hand, the Organic Audio interconnects are truly impressive in being able to not sound like a typical copper cable and strong in the same areas as what the Argento Audio Serenity offered. Some folks who heard the system with the Serenity hooked up on one day, and come back the next day won’t notice the difference in sound much if I switch the Argento Audio Serenity with the Organic Audio interconnects. Only those with sharper ears or perception would probably notice.

Substituting the Organic Audio interconnects with our long-time resident copper interconnects (about the same price) made us appreciate the Organic Audio cable even more. Our resident cable had that traditional high quality copper characteristic of solidity in imaging and bass. Fresh from listening with the Organic Audio interconnects, however, the difference was apparent, enough to warrant the often-used phrase “something is missing”. Missing was the superb effortless presentation of low-level detail in terms of space, air, soundstage. With the other copper cable, micro detail was less pronounced, resulting in some of these detail being very soft or unheard at the same volume level. Overall, although imaging solidity was great on the other copper cable, the Organic Audio cable provided a more natural sound, a more 3-D rendering of music. This is the best description I can attribute to the Organic Audio copper interconnects, and it makes the other copper cable sound common and conventional.
