Hopped on the D wagon For some experimentation. And I like it!

I’ve had the pleasure of hearing a lot of great amps, and even demoing them in my home. Call me shocked that these sound any good at all.

Actually they sound pretty fuc$&ing great.

I even put cheap power cables on them.

    This Cary isn’t going anywhere. I’m a tube preamp kinda guy. I would be blown away if a 1500 dollar pre was close to a 8000 dollar one.

    Out of the box I expected cold and sterile. I was surprised to find incredible bass, so much so I’ve turned off my subwoofer, and some actual weight to the sound. I let the system run continuously for 24 hours (sorry NOS tubes) before I Sat down and actually listened.

    I’m used to tube soundstage, and wasn’t surprised to find it was narrow and not very deep,and there is some sibilance. It seemed around the 30 hour mark, soundstage width and depth exploded! These are smooth as butter, more detail is slowly coming with time. Things are settling. New amps and new power cables will take some time.

    So far so good boys!

    Definitely smooth and powerful amps. I’m still surprised how much weight the sound has. Everything sounds correct. I remember my 4B3 sounding thin, and it always bugged me. Certainly not the case here.

    Would Like to open one up, but I know I will be sad and disappointed that there’s probably not much “stuff” in there.

    I think you’re right. I remember reading 2 weeks continuous play, which sounds about right.

    I’m using the WW Stratus power cables with mine. I would like at some point to upgrade them to the Audioquest Monsoon that you have. I have that same one on my sub and am quite pleased with it.
    The Niagara and the M700’s pair well don’t they? Wish I had about five of the Hurricane cables that I have powering the 7000, but that’s just inconceivable right now.
