I got a similar "don't worry, I'll pack them well".

The seller contacted me this afternoon and is going to give me a refund on the one damaged woofer.

It cost him and there's one less MW6600 playing in this world. But if festyboy/Arty wants to look at it, I'll send it to him with my other 2 frozen ones for repair after I hear if they try to put out sound. I DID test the other 2.

This, after asking the seller that it be properly packed, platter removed, etc. I got a lecture that they have been doing this for years, rest assured....blah blah. Fortunately I was able to extract parts needed to repair Noel's TT.
That's an ignorant person who packed that AFTER being told how to pack that TT!Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Well, I put the speakers in after gluing the magnets ( 2 of them ) and putting newly bought F connectors on the cut wires' ends. I don't have a 4th non-frozen 6600 mid-woofer so I put the one damaged one in place where the blown one was. The original was Not frozen, just no sound comes from it. Wires look good going to the voice coil, just no output. So broken coil wire inside of it.
I hooked them up to a NAD receiver I bought years ago. A huge one. A NAD T754.
I wondered if it would work again. But it worked great!
The sound was bright but clear. I thought I could hear distortion. I turned up the bass a bit and they sure can put that out too if you want them too. The longer I listened, the worse that one damaged mid-woofer sounded! It sucked that it didn't make it!
But I got to hear these RTA12b's sound. I was just thinking, I didn't check the output mode setting. I don't know if it was STEREO or surround. I think stereo though.
Yea, these have a definitely different sound than the AR4x's.
These RTA12b's have a very clear sound to them even with the peerless or older Polk style silk tweeters. The bass was fast too I think.
That distortion from the damaged mid-woofer was so bad, it sounded like a snare drum a lot of the time. UNLISTENABLE!
So the 2 frozen 6600 need to be fixed unless I spot an affordable one on eBay.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Well, these RTA12b's are FANTASTIC sounding speakers!
I took the bad woofer out, put in a woofer from a monitor 4 that was 5' away...just to TEST them without hearing distortion louder than the music.
I'm still searching for the right 6600 mid-woofer but the 3-6600s and those old tweeters and temp. mid-woofer maybe sound better than my Monitor 10's with Peerless tweeters.
I wasn't getting the bass I thought these should have so I dived into the NAD's owner's manual to see if the bass was maybe being sent to a non-existing subwoofer or whatever. YEP, the setting in the Rec. had SUB-ON and crossover set to 60hz..
After turning the SUB OUT setting off, the RTA12b's came alive with bass! Nice bass too! The sound wasn't as bright now either. Just detailed
So I listened to some close to me Cds and I feel these speakers and the NAD receiver expose bad recordings and let the great recordings SHINE.
Another great experience for me to have had the opportunity to hear these great speakers at a VERY AFFORDABLE cost!
I know they'll sound different with the right mid-woofer in place of this 4 ohm temp. fill in. And I know they'll sound a lot better spread further apart and in a proper place too.
They are truly amazing sounding speakers as they sit right now! When I sit between them and about 8' away, the speakers disappear and the sound comes from the TV and above and beside the speakers a bit. Really great holographic imaging!

I absolutely love my 12b. I'm pretty sure they will stay with me for the rest of my days. I used to have my room full of speakers too. I noticed the bass improved dramatically when I removed most of them.
Tony, what exactly do you need now? Just 1x 6600 woofer?

Well done @Tony M ! Pretty cool that you have a surrogate speaker laying around to fill the gap until you find the correct one. Never listened to a pair of 12b's, I bet they're amazing!

Yes. Just one more 6600.
I did notice the bass was also louder as I approached the front door to the left looking at those speakers. So there's a bass lull ( right where I was sitting to the right of the receiver) but it's just a little one.
That row of 4 Marantz speakers on the left of that RTA12b on the left has been on my to-do list for quite some time. I plan on removing them soon. I know what music sounds like in spacious rooms too. My own 2 homes for almost 40 years ( small homes at that ) and other peoples larger homes too. I'm also not a fanatical critical listener thank god. I haven't gone that far down the rabbit hole and don't think I can ever afford too either.
But I do enjoy music, no matter what it comes from. Yes, I know the magical illusion that a great set-up can produce. I plan on getting back there some day before my endgame.
These pics. are in a squashed format. The room is actually wider than it appears in these pics. The room is about 20' wide and about 17' deep. Ceiling is 16'4" high. 10' walls.

Now, I will never know what a $1k power cords do to my system's sound or $1k speaker wires or $1K interconnects do also. Then there's the 300.00 fuses I could use inside my units... I'm a low budget kind-of stereo buyer. BUT, I'm about to up-grade my interconnects this year probably. Doug should get an order by the end of the year because of his generous Karma he offered up for all of us to get a chance at that level of cable performances.
And I know I'm glad to still be alive after what I've been through the past 10 years. Especially after July 4th 2018 to Aug. 2018. That was a rough 3 weeks!!
You can see that same room 10 years ago. Yep, being overwhelmed in pain takes away from knowing what I don't know doesn't it!
What do you think Doc hardy has to say about coping with severe pain in the neck that would make weaker people check out prematurely?

I think I have a lot of stuff. Well kinda. According to the Mrs, yes a lot! Most of it, some of it, has been patiently waiting for me to play with it, repair it, build it, etc. I look forward to the day, when I have more time, to play with all those things!

Damn! It sounds like you are describing one of the things I love about good speakers, I bet I would like these.

And the bass from these 4 mid-woofers would probably be enough for your D&B music too. They ARE limited in their maximum volume though but hey, 4 mid-woofers can only pressurize a certain size room. I worked on getting to that Infinity and Marantz speaker wall changed around today.

OH BOY ! .... Here's my good deed for the day.... ya'll really need to get your Polk read on. The MW6600 and the MW6501 are for all intents and purposes the same woofer.
SO either your speakers have ALL the wrong drivers or

Mr. DORO spent a good amount of time putting all this stuff together for us to have and cross reference …. SO please guys read and do your research PLEASE
The first SDA1 came with MW6600's then MW6501 yet the XO NEVER changed SAME as RTA12's The SDA1 and RTA12 used the same drivers.

Well then I'm up for purchasing your 6501 unless you want to save it for a set of speakers you own now.
What ohm rating is it?
I'm going to go check my 6600 woofer's ohm rating right now. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
I dont know the rating. I'm missing a volt meter wire so I cant check it right now. Need a new set of cables.
Either way if the 6501 will work I can Karma it to you. I could use some good karma myself. PM me your address and I see if I can get it out saturday. Saturday is my next day off.
The 12b are special and I wish everyone could hear them.
