I'm sure I'm in the minority here because I am not part of the existing clique, but personally I don't see much difference between posting links to other people's auctions and posting links to your own auctions. Maybe he doesn't feel like hassling with listing his stuff twice....that's alot of stuff. And just because it's his own auction doesn't mean he doesn't have something of interest to someone here. What the heck does it matter where it's posted? Sheesh! :rolleyes:

I don't think people here like to compete with eBay auctions. I also don't think they want this to become a marketing bulletin board for eBay. It's just self promotion to post it here like this.

It would be nicer if he posted here first and then out to the cold cruel world of eBay.

The way I see it most people browse ebay anyway...it's not like it's a secret. I check ebay several times a day as well as here, audiogon and hometheaterforum. If someone wants to post a link to an ebay auction, that's fine with me. I have the choice of looking or ignoring it. To me, it's no different than RuSsMaN (and others) posting a link to something on ebay he thinks might interest someone. I have no problem with either. I do know that a negative comment such as this would not be tolerated at hometheaterforum. Their policy is to not make any derogatory statements towards a seller. If you have a problem with a sale there you can 1) ignore it , or 2) contact a mod. I'm sure those who sell here do not appreciate others stomping on their sales either. Forum members should not try to dictate policy (without going thru a mod, anyway) no matter how many thousands of posts they have. (IMHO)

It could be that he just wants to reach as many people as possible...or, just wanting to give someone here a chance.

I am sorry about ruffling some feathers among some. It’s just that I had a lot of stuff that I wanted to clean out, and some of it I really had no idea about what it was worth. I have listed a good number of things here before for sale, however in most cases I had to list them on ebay in the end to sell them. I really just want to clean this stuff out, and did not want to deal with listing it a couple of times.

No, I think he is pretty much a stickler for the e-bay links thing, i could be wrong though.. to each is own, i just choose not to post anything to do with "MY" e-bay here... keeps things separete and cival, IMO:)

Really, the point was nicely made Mike. It's not just a you thing, trust me on that. EVERYONE that posts a link to their Ebay or other auctions receives the same message.

The bottom line is:
a) This is not Ebay
b) We don't bid against each other
c) We dont' like people to ask us to bid against each other
d) We will always try to get things cheap (this means avoiding, if at all possible, auctioning methods such as your initial link)

That being said, we don't hate you, we don't dislike you, and we won't kick you out. Just make your offers here, or take them exclusively to Ebay and good luck with the items.....

ya know this is what pisses me off about this board sometimes. I get great knowledge from here but all this petty **** degrades it IMO. If a member wants to post his links to his ebay listing BIG DEAL!! If another mbr wants it and is interested and bids on it GREAT, if not then WhooopTDeDooo! Linking other peoples ebay auctions are good for those who do not scoure ebay every day its called helping people. I love it when people post links to other ads. Make me some room in Russmans boat.

The disliking from forum members about EBAY items being sold by other members is something that's been around for at least the nearly 3 years I've been here. This isn't news, and if nothing else, it's a respect issue. I understand that Trust me. i am not taking sides with anyone, So i am in my Own Boat, this is my own personal view. Although i dont have the history of hooking everyone up as some of you guys but i have before. I'd just like to add that ebay auctions aren't necessarily trying to get the most you can out of somebody. There are some killer deals there...better than you could ever get here. It depends on whether or not the person has unrealistic reserves and/or Buy it Now prices. Many people don't use reserves setting themselves up to get jack **** for their items. The only reason I'm mentioning this is because there seems to be a derogatory attitude that ebay sellers are all out for blood.
