Quialify the statement "I didn't push it that hard though" and I might think about lending more credibility to your statements.

i believe jstas meant quantify, but yes, please do.

fine, surround-balloon theory is gone; whatever.

the 1 dB was from unibox. i used the t/s specs provided by polk on the mm120 (the "old momo"). i also used your tuning of 28 Hz in 2.5 cubic feet, and an assumption of a 4-inch port (thus the request for more detailed info). i did not use a crossover, but i only looked at output below 100 Hz. i put the maximum linear excursion-limited power on them, and looked at the peak spl results. if you would like much more detail, i can post my results. if you see any problems with this simulation, i invite you to tell me and i will attempt to rectify them.

i realize that there are two major faults with this approach. the first, and the reason that i inserted the qualifier "theoretically", is that this is a simulation. it cannot take into account the variables of an install, and thus provides only a reference. second, the enjoyment of the listening experience is far more important than what any people say or what any numbers can tell you. if you like it, that's all that matters. so, in reality, this is an invalid discussion. but i like to argue :p.
