Their competitors have closed the preformance gap considerably, and although they still make some of the best subs on the market, they are probably a little overpriced in the current market.
-
Actually, they have ceased making subs in favor of diving deep into LiDAR where there is a ton of money.
Damn shame too as they made excellent subs, especially servo and small footprint types that no else can seem to make.Political Correctness'.........defined

When you see the flexibility offered by the on screen calibration tools and set up kit, what may seem overpriced is a rather good value. Add to that the servo control, and you get one of the few sub manufacturers on the market that produces a sub equally at home playing movies and music.

They also offered speaker level connections on most of their subs, something sorely missing from most subs these days.
I asked SVS why they don't have them and was told there's no performance difference between speaker level and line level. WRONG!!!Political Correctness'.........defined

I have never been able to introduce a subwoofer into my 2 channel setup at line level without a severe decrease in audio quality.
Velodyne dd series was excellent- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Every time I get the upgrade itch to move from my old spl1200, I notice most do not have speaker level and stick with what I got. In my rig, this old velodyneSPL 1200 has stuck with me the longest out of any speaker have owned. I had it recapped about 10 years ago when it developed a hum.Klipsch The Nines, Audioquest Thunderbird Interconnect, Innuos Zen MK3 W4S recovery, Revolution Audio Labs USB & Ethernet, Border Patrol SE-I, Audioquest Niagara 5000 & Thunder, Cullen Crossover II PC's.

High Level output to a sub is not a 100% slam dunk improvement over preouts. The concept makes sense but there are other variables, results may vary. JL Audio has done some tons of R&D on amplifiers and subwoofers. If High Level inputs are a must it can be adapted to any sub; its just a resistor signal reducing network. It should not be a selling point or deal breaker for someone interested in a subwoofer.

So that device is basically the same as the high level input module you would find on a sub with high level inputs? If so, do they make them that accept banana's vs bare wire?Post edited by dragon1952 on2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. I've heard a lot of Velodyne subs. I found them to be a very good sub, just overpriced for me.When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

Yes, many sub amps used to have this type resistor divider network (speaker Level Inputs) because preamps and integrated amps did not have preouts for a subwoofer. So, speaker lever inputs were used. If a sub does not have one, don't write it off...just add one in. Look at this schematic of an old Velodyne CT subwoofer:

As far as inputs....one can put the thing in a project box and add in whatever type of terminals they desire.

Some of these like the JL Audio car audio product can possibly can be used with a 12V wall supply. I bet it could work. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-wPSwJeaMLmg/shopsearch/to_line_level_converter.html
