Thanks to all of the help on this board, I have just purchased the Parasound 1500A, B stock amp from Audio Advisor! This way when Tweeter finally gets the LSi line in I will be able to upgrade to the LSi 15's.

In the meantime, it will get a nice test run on my RTA 8T's

Special thanks to Polkwannabie, Pjdami & Emlyn! You helped make the decision easier!

Next up, Surround speakers.

    Cathy,

Indeed congrats on your purchase. I saw that amp on sale that is a very good price indeed.

I'm not so sure that I was quite as much involved with your decision to get the amp as others may have been besides the fact on my comments that your Denon receiver would not handle the LSi very well.

One thing to consider though if you go all out LSi in the future will be timbre matching the front soundstage if you get a LSi Center channel. With different amps you will get a different tonal quality. Depending on how "picky" you are this may or may not be a big deal. Ideally you would need a three channel amp for the front soundstage. If you are going to use the Denon's preouts to power the amp for the LSi 15 you may still have an issue with the Denon's amps powering the LSi C. I don't know about this as I have never tried that. Just something to consider and again really just a function of how "picky" you are.

Pjdami, you gave me exactly the info I was looking for. I wasn't sure if my Denon could handle the Polks. You told me flat out they couldn't, so then the next step was to find out what I could do to remedy that, which got me to the separate amp.

I'm not planning on getting rid of my Boston center speaker. Just like my Denon, it is only 2 yrs old. I'm not sure if my ears are sharp enough to pick up tonal differences. There is probably a tonal difference going on now that I'm not able to pick up. My brothers probably could since they are both musicians, but I'm not. So I'm sure it will be fine.

This board is just the best! Thanks all!

That's great then Cathy. I was a little concerned at first because I didn't realize that you were going to keep the Boston center. You should be fine then. Make sure that you calibrate your speakers with a calibration disk though as your speaker efficiencies (sensitivity) may be quite different from one manufacturer to the other. You may be able to pick up the tonal differences in the test tone more readily than in "real life" while watching movies etc.

The LSi 15 are an incredible speaker and I'm rediscovering them right now with a power cord upgrade.

    Have fun,
