I know this probably has been asked before, but what is the best way to connect the speakers? Banana plugs, bare wire, pin connectors or spade connectors?

Whatever floats your boat. IMHO there is no better, there is only easier. Easiest to me are bananas which is what I use mose places.

Bare wire is the best connection but isn't the best connection due to corrosion.
Spades have the best overall surface contact.
Bananas are a fairly good connection with ease of swapability.
Pins flat out suck but are usefull if your speakers use spring clips.
So Spades are my choice of connection

Radio Shack Gold plated dual bananas here. Very easy swaps and very secure.
Dan,
I've never done the calc's, but to my eye bananas have to at least be the equal spades in contact area.More later,

Regarding bananas I was thinking the same thing. One would think the surface area to be at least as much as with spades. I've never used pins but then those are pretty much for dealing with spring clips aren't they ?

I've got the monster quick lock bananas, and they make a suprisingly snug connection. I do use spades for jumpers. I think the best thing you can do is keep your greasy little fingers off of the connectors.

Bananas for the cables and spades for the jumpers.....a winning combination.Political Correctness'.........defined
