Rti 10s as rears?

Hope everyone has been doing well. Just moved into a rental house to be closer to my new job, and the owner is incredibly finnicky about holes in the walls. Silly I know but it’s a 120+ year old house in a historic area so I kinda get it.
Either way, I’m having second thoughts about wall mounting my fxi-3’s, so wanted to see what the feedback was regarding using rti-10s (what Im currently using as my fronts) for rear speaker duties. Would they be “too much”? Anything Im not thinking about but should be? I have room for them at least.
If this is a go my next step is to actually find a pair. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Do it, they'll be under utilised, but there's nothing wrong with that.

I use my RTi12’s for my rears. Overkill but still look small compared to my SDA’s . They will work for you. Good luck. Is placing the FXi3's on stands not possible? I know ideally they should be 2 feet above ear position. But at least they will be at the same height as the 10's.

Thanks for the feedback guys. In regards to the FXis on stands, I don’t have any tall enough and also have a 120lb mastiff walking around the house with a baseball bat for a tail, so I would expect them to be knocked over on the regular.
Sounds like they’d be under-utilized as rears, but would work well from a matching perspective with the rest of my system.
Anything else I might not be thinking about? And does anyone have a well kept pair of 10s in the Richmond, VA area (or maybe even DC or Cville) for sale?2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Quick follow up here. Are the newer RTi As timbre matched to the old RTis? Ive thought about picking up a pair of Rti A9s and then moving my Rti 10s to the back, but am concerned about them sounding “off” when paired with the csi3 up front and the 10s for rears.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

If you like your surrounds at ear height there is nothing wrong at all using them. If you have matching speakers all the way around, this is would be called perfect world.
I use the largest wall mount speakers Def Tech makes in the Mythos 10's. I also use one for my Center channel. They are a perfect match to the Mythos ST main tower speakers I use. For Dolby Atmos I use another companies in ceilings due to the angle of my ceiling on the left hand side. They make a POINT design and this works amazing BUT I have to rely on Room Correction software so they blend in with the Def Tech speakers.
I have done floor standing speakers in many home theater rooms. I used Paradigm Reference series Floor standers all the way around except the Center which also included surround back. Talk about looking overkill. Also B&W and Revel theater and surround systems. All of them sounded fantastic and very full. I can't say they are a waste at all or overkill I don't agree with that statement.
I however would not buy Mythos ST tower speakers for surround or surround back duty as I prefer my Surround and surround back Tweeters at 72 inches from the floor . This is why I favor On Wall or even In wall designs.
BUT with Atmos you can get away with ear height surrounds and it will sound correct. They do some cool processing when your sending a 5.1 signal to a Atmos system. They blend the Atmos speakers with the Surrounds and they fool you into believing your getting a higher experience.Dan

They aren't far off.
I would get the A9s or A7s and see what you think. I would also look for an A6. They are a big step up for sure.
I recently picked up a second one for $100. It was mint.
Also if you go A9s make sure you have a good power source. They require a lot more power.
If you don't go with the A7s.Main room- RTiA9 x4, CSiA6, in ceiling Atmos RT-70 x4, SVS PC 4000 x2, Marantz 8805A, OPPO 203, Emotiva DR3 G3, Emotiva XPA-2 G3, Emotiva XPA-5 G3, Emotiva X300, Sony 75" 940E, Panasonic Plasma VT50, PS Audio Power Port X2, PS Audio AC-5 x8, AQ Rocket 33 Biwire speaker cables, AQ King Cobra XLR IC, Furman PFi20 W/Cullen cable, SoildSteel S4-4 rack, Gik room treatments

Pondered a larger center, but would need to upgrade my entertainment center as well as there’s no room for a larger center.
Are the 9s/ 12s that much more power hungry? I dont have an amp (need to consider a 5x200 investment at some point) but the Denon 3313ci has pushed the 10s to a satisfactory level (for me anyway.) I assumed the Denon would push the larger speakers as well since they’re 8 ohm. Is that incorrect?2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Yes they are 8ohm but the 9s/12s need power. I feel 200w is a good #.
We have heard a lot of problems with under powering them.
If you go that route just be careful with the volume knob until you can get an amp.Main room- RTiA9 x4, CSiA6, in ceiling Atmos RT-70 x4, SVS PC 4000 x2, Marantz 8805A, OPPO 203, Emotiva DR3 G3, Emotiva XPA-2 G3, Emotiva XPA-5 G3, Emotiva X300, Sony 75" 940E, Panasonic Plasma VT50, PS Audio Power Port X2, PS Audio AC-5 x8, AQ Rocket 33 Biwire speaker cables, AQ King Cobra XLR IC, Furman PFi20 W/Cullen cable, SoildSteel S4-4 rack, Gik room treatments

Thanks man, much appreciated. Sounds like I'm going to need to wait till tax refund gets here, as I'm going to need a new entertainment system to accommodate both a larger center and an amp. Might as well go big and be done with it.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ
