End Game?

Just a quick thread to see how many of us have reached the "end game" of our two channel audio pursuits. With my recent acquisitions of the Pass Labs X0.2 and the Carver Silver Seven Tube Amps(pray all goes as planned on that deal), I think I may be there. Who else is nearing the end of the road?

LOL. I might be, but only because I am retiring this coming April. However, I am seriously considering getting a reverse mortgage, and buying some Magico M3 speakers, or, preferably, the S7 if they do a version 2 upgrade. Electronic wise I am content. :)

You have the kind of stuff in your rig that is hard to move up from without a massive amount of coin to go along with it. Any move you make now should be a well thought out move.

You don’t want to get yourself in a spot where all you are doing is chasing gear and move on from something only to find you had it and now it’s gone.

I don’t think I’m all that close. Ultimately I think I’d like to have backert upgrade my preamp, get a higher end amplifier, a better turntable, and eventually move up to the focal Electra series. I think that would put me where I want to be.

Baring a catastrophe I can safely say now that I'm done and have been since Feb. of last year when my last electronic pieces arrived. But there's always cabling upgrades to help keep the money in the wallet from getting stale.

I’m getting close to the “end game for now” pount, if you know what I mean. I wanna get a pair of Dali Oberon’s, better cables, and then I need (not want) to let it be, get a job, car, and eventually move out. :)
Hopefully I will eventually be able to continue on my journey.

I have yet to aquire the Polk Big Boys so my journey continues.

And then there is the TUBE amps, McIntosh, Dayens and McCormick Amps sound I've heard about this past year I haven't heard yet. Will I ever?

But I'm up there with nice gear and speakers to keep me happy for years while I try to downsize again. Last year didn't go so well downsizing my collection since I bought 5 times more than I sold. :o:D

    But they WERE great deals.

Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

This is a good point, and it is what I am going to follow. The reason I’m not quite done is because I’m planning on selling all my excess gear, and 80% of that will go towards the speakers and cables. (The rest is going towards a mission trip and a car.) I wouldn’t even think twice about getting the speakers, and would stick with a pair of cables for my TT.

Well... not a rebuttal, but sort of a counterpoint:

The Polk Audio Monitor Series Model 7As and the Yamaha CA-610II have been here since 1978. Not in regular use for about a decade, but they sounded good in 1978 and they still do -- "good sound" is not really a moving target, IMO :)

I'm done and at the end of my game. The vinyl rig is the only thing I desire to improve along my audio journey moving forward but is absolutely not necessary.

It is nice to sit and enjoy instead of wondering.

I’m 36, so hopefully not for awhile. Discovered real audio only about 8 years ago and I’ve jumped around quite a bit and enjoyed every minute of it. Most of it right here along with you guys.

I am currently quite content (looks over shoulder so wife doesn’t see me type). I’m in a good place with all 3 systems and learning to enjoy the music again instead of being stressed about my systems.

I have 3 kids so time with them is most important right now, so trying to just enjoy the moments..

Nope, I’ve learned to be content and patient though. The 2bs are keepers, just have to get better power and some tubes for the preamp. After that I might reconsider.
