I recently purchased a set of secondhand RT3 bookshelf speakers.
At Low volume they sound very muddy and are very hard to listen to ,they sound better with more volume. Do I need to replace the main drives ?
Cheers

The problem is likely the tweeters and/or the crossovers. When the tweeter isn't playing the speaker will sound very muddy.Political Correctness'.........defined

Thanks for that, how do I check the crossovers

I have put my ear up to the tweeter and they are working ,sometimes it sounds muddy and sometimes it's not as bad

Perhaps crossover or a bad connection. I had a pair of those where the internal wires came loose during shipping, so I would open them up and look at the crossover and make sure the connections are all secure.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es
