omni A1 spotify and android

Hi,
I have an Omni A1 amplifier and I am not able to use it with spotify in android, it never appears as an option, have tried with multiple devices, mostly Samsung.
however as soon as I try with and ipad or iphone spotify finds the A1 and I can play music.
any idea what is different between iphones and androids? do they use different protocols to discover the A1?
