Soundbar 3000 full volume when turned on after tv

I have a soundbar 3000 with subwoofer connected to an LG 47” tv with the included optical wire. We don’t use the SB a whole lot because of this oddity. If the tv is on (using the tv speakers) then I decide I want to use the sb, I’ll flip the the back switch on and it will turn on full blast. I believe I started using the switch rather than standby because if we lost power at some point the soundbar wouldn’t be in standby anymore then when someone turned the tv on it would again be full blast. Is there something else I should try? Connect to the tv with a different method? I was toying with trying a 3.5mm to rca adapter and see if I get the same results. It’s odd and scares the crap out of people. Other than this glitch, it sounds good 😀.
