It was fun to build but I can't find a home for this.

Kit from the store is $327, not including shipping. I'm asking $350, it's built with upgraded caps and wiring. Shipping from Rockford, IL will be extra.

Very clean. Ran this on the big carver silvers and it did well. Not going to knock walls down but for 8 watts of class A it did very well!

Sound - at least from my 1.5 version with upgraded power supply - is phenomenal. Gorgeous detail, plenty of deep tuneful & tactile bass, and a purity of tone (not sure how else to describe) that still wows me. Love it so much, I ordered a pair of mono kits earlier today. I've been using mine in the study with Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 and Hartley speakers that I believe are 95db.

With upgraded caps and wiring, this is a fantastic value! Someone should jump on this. Now.

High end of warm. You won’t fry eggs on it and you can keep your hand on it - it’ll get uncomfortable but no smoke.

I was going to buy one of the kits and build it myself. I really want to pull the trigger as they get stellar reviews for sound quality.

But I have racked my brain for a couple days and I have zero use for it. I'd have to buy another pre-amp too. I suppose I could swap this in for the Aleph in the hot Summer months.

I should just take the money and put it in my Pass XA25 account.

    But, I really want this...............lmao!

Is this thing common ground for my SDA's?

The one visiting here (which was built by Maestro Al, as y'all may recall) is a tweaked and prodded first generation ACA, so take this comment with a grain of your favorite base-neutralized acid (e.g., NaCl).

The ACA is a fine sounding little amplifier, but a little dry in the midrange relative to an SE 2A3 amp. Still, I'd say sonically that it's more similar to than different than an SE 2A3 amplifier based on listening to both on various incarnations of high-sensitivity Altec/JBL loudspeakers (or abominations thereof) -- which, in my book, is high praise.

Especially given that most folks (unless those folks have a large junk drawer) can roll a pair of ACAs cheaper than SE 2A3 amplifier(s). :)

That's my other thought too, buy this and build a second and run mono's. But the cost is 1/4 a used XA25 so that being my next audio goal. I am in a conundrum.

If you need character witnesses there are a few characters here that I’m fairly certain would vouch for me.
