Receiver upgrade advice!!

Really need advice from everyone on this- my current setup includes Polk TSX 440t's in front, TSX 250c center, OWM 5's in back, and OWM3's front height, no sub currently, powered by a DENON X2100 receiver. Small, simple system, in a smaller room (12 x 15) but sounds pretty good. So, I have an opportunity to upgrade the receiver- my two options are an ARCAM 390 for $2500 or the DENON X4500 for $1599. I've heard the ARCAM and cant believe how amazing the sound is, but cant justify the $$. Is the difference in sound worth the $$? Just had to ask.

Get your ears on the Denon. It more than likely is no slouch, but let your ears decide. Look at the feature set on the Arcam. Is there stuff you'll never use?

Get a sub... You're missing out. Then upgrade the front 3.
Nothing wrong with that Denon. -
I'd love to add a sub again, but the wife and kid might disagree!

Get two, one for the wife and one for the kid. Everybody is happy.

No reason not to have a sub. When you calibrate it into your system, it's like it's not even there. If your a bass nut then I can see why your wife doesn't want you to have one.
For the AVR's I think it's a waste of money going with the Arcam with the speakers you own and the room you have them in. The Denon as said above is no slouch. I also think it's a nice pairing with your system. I also think getting a sub is where I would put my money over changing out the AVR. Way more benefits with a sub then better power.Dan
