I don't know if you can derail a thread from 2004, but how about bad movies that you are embarrassed that you always watch.

Roadhouse is one that I always find myself watching and I'm not happy about it.

now see had I started a new thread about this someone would have come along and posted 15 different links about this topic already being talked about so I decided to save myself the trouble. And I don't think it said anything about movies that you are embarrassed to watched just enjoyed watching good or bad.

I too am much more likely to watch movies that are on TV, even if I own. I have pondered that habit many a times and come up with the following possible reasons.

    - I am that lazy that I can't get up off the couch / bed to find the DVD in my stack of 200+, turn on all the appropriate gear, find the various remotes, pop it in, press play, etc.

    - Having a movie on TV means you have no particular level of commitment, and, therefore more flexibility. You are more likely to flip it over to check in on other programs, check sports scores during commercials, play on the computer, etc. If I take the time to think of what DVD I want to watch, I feel I owe it my undivided attention.

With movies on TV, I can do whatever I frickin want! It doesn't wait for me, I don't wait for it.
