I have not yet absorbed all the details of this, but the premise appears to be to help artists, songwriters, producers, and others involved in music creation get paid in the streaming era. That sounds all well and good, but I wonder what will be the consequences, both intended and unintended.

And we already have copyright laws that cover these things... why do we need a new law rather than enforce what is already on the books? The Gear... Same reason we have more firearm control laws that existing laws already cover: keeps "law makers" employed and gives them something to squabble about.

Wow...I dunno, because the internet and RECORDED MUSIC didn’t exist when the constitution was written. So we have to make laws that bridge the gap between constitutional law and modern reality lol...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

And, because everytime a law is enacted there is a lawyer, or team of lawyers, trying to find ways around it.
