Just sitting here on a rainy day drinking beer while the fiance runs a garage sale. So, I'm drinking a Boulevard Wheat beer and I squeeze and drop a piece of lemon in it. Does anyone else do this with wheat beers?

Regards,

I don't think it's wimpy at all. Sometimes a touch of citrus turns out to be real nice.

I was actually out of lemons and limes a couple weeks ago, all I had was a HUGE california orange. I used it instead - just a little squeeze and man, it was REALLY refreshing.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Beers from Mexico just don't taste right without it, IMO. Dos Eqquis dark, Bohemia, sometimes Tecate.

Never let your woman sell your stuff in a garage sale. I only had four things of mine in it.

Coors Light lighted sign $20, and 3 DVD's for $5 each.

    "Your stuff sold really fast"

    Here's how she sold everything:

Coors Light sign + 1 DVD for $15

    2 DVD's for $7

    Grrrrr....

Its not a lot of money either way, but still very irritating.

Good thing I'm drinking beer. :D

Corona with 2 slices of lime, chilled to 40 degrees. It's living, I think I'll go have one...;)

Ditto that. That was like what got me through college. $1 Coronas w/ lime and free pool from 4 to 7 pm everyday.

    Wimpy....try lemonade instead;)

Although, while I was sittin' on a beach called "Playa de Corona" ... I asked the waiter to bring me, of course, a Corona. He doesn't put a lime in it, and I'm like oh well it's Mexico...

Anyway, I take a swig and it's the best damn Corona I've ever tasted! So I order another and another...etc.

I look down and a sand crab crawls across my beach blanket. Then I look up and there are two huge cruise ships docked at the pier... No joke, it was like I was livin' in one of their commercials.

Can anyone guess what part of Mexico?

As a brewere and drinker of fine ales and lagers, more ale than lager! I must say that any beer that is breweed with such a light taste that i splash of citris "Improves" the beer, than you are drinking an unworthy beer! But what do I know, I like The Grateful Dead and junk food too>

I'm with Dave on this one. Some beers may 'improve' with a nice wedge, any truly good beer doesn't need it, and if it does, than it aint no good beer. As far as wimpy goes, nah, its not wimpy, just means the beer could be better.

Not wimpy, but no wedges here, thank you.

However, 1/2 Lemonade and 1/2 lager beer is a fantastic refresher. In Scotland it's called a Lager Shandy (sp?). Perfect after a round of golf on a warm Scottish afternoon...

Yes, it is. It is also a great way to destroy a great beer. But if you are one who drinks those mexican piss beers, you could not add enough lemon.

If you can't drink a beer warm, and like it, it aint good beer :)

I don't mind lemon, but it gives me heartburn, beings I tend to drink 10+ beers at a single setting if at all possible.

Reminds me of a concoction I drink, but its 1/2 beer, 1/2 lemonade, one shot vodka. We call it 'Summer Beer'.

True, but "warm" is relative to the "fridge cold". It's still 60 degree-ish cool...

Corona or Sol with a lime is still a lot better than the domestic piss they sell as beer in here. Quality beer like Sapporo is another thing, putting a lime or lemon in it would be a sacrilige.

Most of the stuff that tastes like beer in the US is from Japan. Even the mainstream Euro brands tend to lose the taste once in the new continent.

None of the American beers have the taste I'd expect from a good lager, they are just too bland. I'm not a big fan of stouts so I can't comment on those.

Then you sir are drinking the wrong beers. Especially is Sapporo is a "quality beer" in your world.

Personally, I only drink Corona when it's either cheap or free and 9 times out of 10, even if I ask for no lemon/lime slice, I get it anyway. I really can't stand it when some places put salt on the lemon/lime wedge first. Tecate and Dos Equis are far better Mexican beers than Corona, IMO.

But I'll take half a pint of Yeungling lager with a few "slices" of Guiness to fill the rest of the glass any day!

Oh and the only mixed drink worth mixing is a Boilermaker!

Because ones that I would recommend, you can't get in Texas. How about you tell us what ones you have tried and I'm sure others would chime in with good recommendations.

Offering beer recommendations is like offering speaker recommendations, almost pointless.....you need to get out on your own and drink anything you haven't seen in a convenience store.

All of the mainstream are horrible of course, Bud light being the worst of the lot. Rolling Rock is decent but not quite there. Sheiner makes some decent beers but not lager. None of the offerings at small microbreweries appeal to me, they are all too flat.

While Sapporo isn't perfect, it has the taste and scent I'm looking for in a lager. Not too flat either. Lapin Kulta would be my #1 choice but can't get it in this continent.

I would want a strong tasting lager, not very dark, with enough carbonation. Sapporo comes closest unless there is something from the smaller breweries.

Ditto on the Corona. Can't believe they came out with Corona Light...

Jstas, if you like Guiness, give Beamish a try.

Dos Equiis Amber is great with TexMex as is Shiner Bock.

    Sami,
I think I have a six-pack of Pearl Light laying around somewhere. It has the distinction of being the only beer I've ever had freeze in the fridge... :)
