Congrats @Clipdat
If I can piggyback on your post I’m on day 79. I don’t have a specific goal, but I just decided I needed to do something differently for a bit and here we are.
I don’t think I should go back, but it’s also hard to picture my life without it. I’m training for a sprint-length triathlon right now and then I’ll make another goal after that.

Thank you for sharing this, more power to you and best of luck in your triathlon training!
I'm not sure if craft beer is your drink of choice, but it was for me, specifically IPAs. I've found that easily the best testing NA craft beer available is made by Athletic Brewing: https://athleticbrewing.com/
Their NA IPAs are deliciously bitter and satisfying, just like normal IPAs are. They also have a number of other different beer styles. Everything is enjoyable and meticulously crafted. Very high quality. -
Nice, 7 years of no drinking today.

That’s awesome. I love seeing this thread revived every year.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden

Congrats to everyone who has quit drinking smoking or using any mind altering substance that has affected them in any way that is negative and and for those that can drink without issues good for you. I can't remember the last time I had a drink and even gave up smoking 3 years ago after a major heart attack and open heart surgery.
Regards SnowWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all -

Congrats that is amazing.
I have quit too been 7 months July 1. It makes my gerd go nuts and plays games on my stomach in general. This past weekend confirmed it. Shared some wine with my wife and horrible night and following day. I'm actually packing up all the alcohol in the house and dropping it off to a friend. Ok so technically not 7 months but it's not an off the wagon situation.
I have to say I've never felt better. The major downside is I really can't drink much more than water which gets boring, I do have my morning coffee but that too has been decreased by half again due to Gerd. -
Congrats

43 years here. I don't miss it at all.
I'm glad to see you getting along OK.

That's a long time, nice! And yes that is a great way to describe it. I don't miss or think about it at all.
I just enjoy my NA beer occasionally, as I still enjoy the bitter flavors of IPAs. -
Congratulations Drew Now find a cool Listening Bar that serves up NA IPA and can also hook up their gear properly

"Sometimes you have to look to the past to understand where you are going in the future"“Fa sol sol la la fa sol la ... " ~ a soul-stirring sound that is at once alluring and haunting surges through the room as their voices rise and merge. First they sing the notes, then the words from the Sacred Harp hymnal, which was first published in 1844. Sacred Harp a singing tradition that dates back nearly to the founding of the nation.

Congrats, Drew. Based partly on this thread, we did a dry January. No ill effects except gaining a couple pounds. Now we are both imbibing quite a a bit less. I like a nice IPA, too, and there’s a better selection of NA ones available these days.
-
Congrats! I'm a bit over three years myself!
-
Nice job, congrats! And good to see you pop in again, hope you have been well.

I always admire a person that can give up something that they thought was not causing a problem but in reality it was. I know people that should do the same but either they can not or just don;t want to make that change and I fear one day those "habits" will catch up to them
Our marriage almost went down the drain years ago from too much "partying". Fortunately we both realized what needed to be done and we cut back big time on drinking, etc. While we do still have a drink here and there, it's nothing like years gone by. We try to stick to "everything in moderation"....except music!Yep, my name really is Bob.
