I’ve looked through all the threads. Only places that I could find listed as distributors were Sonic Craft & Parts Express. I can’t find it even listed in either of their websites. Has the product name changed? Does it still exist? Acceptable substitutes? What am I missing?

Good luck. BH5 that everyone raves about is discontinued. You may find some extra slivers here on CP as I did, but Parts Express has a substitute (not as good as BH5, but still good stuff) called Sonic Barrier, IIRC.

Do NOT use Blackhole 5 or Sonic Barrier on the driver baskets. Those products and Dynamat Xtreme have very different purposes.Political Correctness'.........defined

Perhaps I misspoke. I do understand the difference between the two. Sonic Barrier MX-4 Max Aluminum Foil Butyl Foam Rubber Sound Damping Sheets seem to be similar to the Dynamat Xtreme for using on the driver baskets. Where is the Blackhole 5 available at?

Jesse there is dampening stuff that does have a thin foam back. I have not used it but my local car shop quit carrying the second skin stuff i used on my first project and went to the foam backed stuff. This was because second skin was trying to get them to order large drop shipments they would use in 5 yrs.
Second skin is like dynamat that has thicker aluminium side and thicker butyl side. -

Yep, it was expensive ($92 incl. shipping) for a 12"x18" piece of BH5. That's $800+ into these speaks so far. I've read several of the threads for placement of the dampening material. Yes, thanks to @F1nut, he is responsible for that. No google search brought up Speaker City as a source. So the dampening material should be wider horizontally than vertically?
