Vintage center channels

Is anyone aware of any older Polk Audio center channel speakers that have the MW65xx midwoofers and SL-2000 tweets? My current center channel is the odd duck in my set-up and I'm considering a replacement.

I think the closest thing will be a CRS, (modified of course). I haven't seen anything closer within that vintage (yet).

I do see these every so often. Awfully large for a center channel IMO. I'll keep my eyes open for something that fits-the-bill.

A lot of people run a CS350LS or even a 400/400i with older Polks with good results.

^^^^ This unless you want to build your own like westmassguy did. It's sweet.

^^^ Yeah, I gotta do that one too.

Westmassguy is one talented dude. That is a beautiful speaker. I wonder how it sounds?
I have a 400. I just thought I could do better. -
Monitor 5 Jr+ seems to work pretty well on it's side even through it's half westmassguy's setup.
It sounds much better than the CS250-S that was there before.

@stevep , I'm on the mobile app, so I can't see your sig. Are those 8T or 11T for your mains?
-
I bet you could butt together a set of 5Jr+'s then delete one tweeter and swap a PR to MW. That would get close to his arrangement.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

They're 11TL's with RDO198's replacing the SL3000's. The rears are my original Monitor 5's from 1990 with RDO194's and when I get another set of replacement tweeters the center will get updated.
xschop, I have two pairs of RTA-8TL and a plan to sacrifice one to make a ported center from it. -

I looked at the link to westmassguys OP above but i didn't see a parts list for the crossover. I'm fairly crafty but definitely not an electrical engineer. It would be nice to see how he did this.

@The_Polkster It's in there, on the second page I think. Along with links to vendors.

The 8t is pretty much the same size as mine, and should work. You might consider reversing polarity on the tweeter to mitigate lobing.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Thanks for chiming in. Nicely done on the center channel. I'm envious! -
