You're barking up the right tree, but it's on the wrong coast. I could demo everything from a 4.6 up to an 11, then RTA 11 and 12b, CRS, and SRS-2 for you. I don't have any big boys though (yet).

    Hmm...

    Leif Polk?
    Gudmund Polk?
    Jan Polk?
    Asbjørn Polk?

Hmm... maybe it was originally Pølk...

Amusingly/ironically enough, color came to Carey Street later in 1981 :)

    Uh, I am...

Bought my first sda's spring of 84. Was in college and wanted the SRS's but I couldn't pick them up (I was pretty scrawny then) so kept working my way down the line until the 2b's. Paid cash and dragged them to my dorm room. Sweetness!

    Some 1981, 82 and 83 issues are missing from www.americanradiohistory.com :(
This is the next ad I find, from December 1983.

Good to know these are Digital Disc Ready! :)

I have never seen a Polk with these external "grills" to attach the dust cover.

Must have been a short lived run.
  • I believe those are the grille frames without the cloth attached.

I believe those are the grille frames without the cloth attached.

That is my belief/understanding too (FWIW).
  • They always looked a little "manufactured for the occasion" to me.

Just looked at the frames on my Model 10 and you are both correct.

No idea why they would show the bare frames attached. They make the speakers look goofy!

From what I remember from my tour, the particular shape of the frame around the peerless tweets was there for defraction (sp) purposes.

FestYboy gets a :star: . This was one of the sales associates talking points back in the day. There was a difference in sound with the grille on and off.

That quote is kinda funny... I'm not aware of anyone else who uses similar tech in their speakers.
