PJ & Doro thanks for the tip on Caig products. Found a dealer here & got deoxit & pro gold in spray cans. I wanted non aresol but thats all they had. I stripped my dvd player last night took out the main boards, power cord, & others. Used the deoxit on the female rca's & all contacts. My rca had some corrosion that the alc. couldnt remove and other rcas that never was used had lots of junk on them. The deoxit cleaned them up real nice & with very little work. Cleaned the power cord ac prongs & the opposite side that plugged into the board, Cleaned the contacts on the boards too & that also cleaned up great. Finished with pro gold & put everything back together. Pulled out all the interconnects, dig coax cable & component cable, clenaed with deoxit & treated with progold. I cant say the pic quality got better but I do think the sound when playing through IC sound better. Seems like the soundstage got deeper & threre are more layers of music ( more detail) Im not a big busic listener but Im almost sure is sounds better. My wife will be able to tell, she listens much more than I do.I got to try the flashlight test, like the one on the caig site. I have a single aaa light I use on my bench & the batt was about 80-90% dead & the light was dim. as per the site I sprayd the contacts the switch & batt - & + waited 2 min & put it back together. Turned it on & off a few times to clean the switch & was supprised the light was much brighter! Somthing worked! Now its time to clean, clean , clean oh what fun:eek:

You are very welcome ezc. I purchased a small vial of the Pro Gold myself to treat some of the DIY wires I'm making.

Man, we've all heard the term "snake oil" before and that is what I jokingly think to myself when I am using it on some of the newer stuff I'm working on. Looks like the Detoxit did help you with some cleaning and that is great. I guess long term observations will dictate if the ProGold really helps to minimize contamination. People swear by the stuff though.

Ace - Glad the suggestion was useful, it's nice stuff. Nothing like shiny new gold RCA's :D
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Ive been using the deoxit & progold for about 4 days now & damm it works! Were Nokias repair center here in Hawaii & I see liquad damaged phones daily. water , soda, beer on & on. I have tried many many chemicals to clean corrosion & oxidation from phone contacts. I was using some military electronic cleaning soultion that a customer gave me & that was better than any other cleaners I have used. But after using the deoxit I was amased the Deoxit did a better job & I didnt have to scrub at the contacts as much ( much less preasure). As I clean my system Ill use the deoxit to clean & progold to treat. Clean connectors & contacts----Better Picture--- Better Sound! Thanks for the Tip!!!!!
