Do u let kids try to sing into mics after service or do you mute mics?

i have a question for u guys. some times i see posts on here about kids using mics or "running equipment". i cant stand it when people lets there kids mess/use mic or equipment. i think the youngest they can be to use the equipment is probably 10 to 12 years. what do you guys think of this? do u let kids try to sing into mics after service or do you mute mics? personally after the service is over i mute all the channels so people and kids dont feel compelled to meas with the mics.

Assuming church service, I am always in control of what comes through the system until I go home, so if that happened to me, I would mute mics. I usually play music on any sound job that I do until the crowd disperses, but in the church that I did AV in, the issue that you are having never came up, as the kids were very well behaved.

    Odd first post, but welcome.
  • if a microphone is not currently being used its usually a good practive to mute that channel on the board.

i would assume you are talking about some sort of live sound situation and not home stereo.. i would say random kids should not be playing with audio equipment.

its it not a pa system your talking about microphones should not be hooked to your home stereo of you can blow up your speakers.
