New caps and resistors for vintage monitor 10a please help

Hi y'all, where do I go to buy the caps and resistors for my vintage monitor 10a? I want sonicap caps and mills resistors. For the caps, I went to "sonic craft" they had some sonicap caps but not in the values I needed. Also, do I want gen 1, gen 2 or platinum? For the resistors I went to parts express and parts connexion but again, they had some mills resistors, but not in the values that I need. Finally, am I correct in what I need: a 2.5 ohm 5 watt resistor, a 2.7 ohm 5 watt resistor, two 12 uF caps and a 34 uF cap? Thanks

    Sonicraft has those exact values.

  • Ok, yes I apologize, I see now that sonicraft has the sonicap gen 1 in those vales. Now, They have the 2.5 ohm 5 watt mills resistor but not the 2.7 ohm 5 watt resistor that I can see. Still need someone to chime in and tell me if those indeed are the correct values that I need for monitor 10a. Thanks

  • Actually, parts connexion may have the mills resistors, it was just difficult to read the values at first- they have them coded with letters. I may call Polk and see if they can tell me the correct values for these things I need.

You can use the 10 or 12 watt Mills or Vishay/Mills. Both are better than the 5 watt sandcast resistors you have now

There's a stickie at the top of this section that should give you the values that you need. Courtesy of Polk Audio.
  • Thanks, I just looked inside and they are indeed all the values that I thought they were. Though, I was told I would have to be creative fitting the sonicaps in there because they are much bigger than the originals. I wonder if there are any relatively good caps nowadays that are smaller, that would fit better?

You can pick up a little bit of room if you mount the resistors on the bottom of the board. You may have to get a little creative.04ushpfonn7f.jpg
  • Ok, I'll go with the good sonicaps and make them fit somehow.

To get mine to fit in the RTA11TLs, I had to assemble the PC board to the terminal cup inside the cabinet.
