I believe I read the stereo mix on the stereo SACD version and the MC SACD version of Toto IV are different as well.

    "Ultimate Mancini" - Henry Mancini

This is an awesome SACD....hearing the Pink Panther Theme in hi-rez alone is worth the price of the disc. Not to mention the Peter Gunn Theme. Very cool music!!

Stan Getz, PURE GETZ. In 5.1 surround on Concorde Records. This disc sounds stunning.

Since I mentioned this title in another thread, I figure I should mention it here. River of Sorrow from FIM....

it's traditional Chinese instrumental music and if you have never tried it, it will take some getting use to. But the performances are unbelievably good and the direct to DSD recording is to die for. Even with my inexpensive gear, the recording is ultra realistic.

    Rocky,

No, no multi-channel on this one. It was a direct-to-2 track DSD recording with Sony bringing in their best DSD recording equipment at that time. The disc itself was made in the EU since Sony in Indiana has no capability to press hybrid SACD at that time.

Of course, they have since gone up to 24 tracks DSD recording.

O, Yeah Ultimate Aerosmith Hits, two disc SACD stereo a must for any Aerosmith fans. My Big Ten Inch..............

Also just picked up Santana, Abraxas, very nice, as he is one of the men on guitar, some nice riffs throughout.

How's the sound quality on Abraxas?

    Jesse,

This is a stereo only sacd so I had to listen on the HT rig and as you know the rti's just dont have it like the SDA, I have the Denon SACD player on the way, should be here this week so I want to listen with it on the 2ch.

My initial impression though on this rig was overall positive sound quality with a couple of tracks being less stellar than others, let me give it another go later this week. Besides during my first listen the lady of the house came home from work resulting in an instant 20db drop from the first track, Singing Winds, Crying Beasts which had immediately caught my attention and was enveloping.

As a bonus the disc contains three tracks recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in April of 1970, back when we were lads:) I got this disc for a whopping 11.88 from the Sony Music Store sale and its worth that to hear these tracks which were not previously released.

Abraxas and the 2 SRV discs were the first SACDs I purchased. Abraxas recording is pretty good but not stellar. My copy is the single layer 2 channel only (but what else do you need?). It's not "Knock your socks off" SACD SQ like some others but a decent enough disc to own, especially because of the music itself.
