So what are some of your favorite SACDs? I currently have the Pink Floyd DSOTM and Norah Jones SACDs, and am pleased with both.
Dark Side of The Moon is by far my favorite, I get chill bumps listening to it...can't really describe what it is about it...it's just awesome
Anyway, I'm looking for other good titles to check out and wanted to see what you guys reccomend. Also, what's the best place to shop for SACDs?

Just my opinion, but I think there are alot of real good songs on the individual releases...that you don't get with the GH's.

Here's a few that I haven't seen mentioned yet.
Jazz
Duke Ellington Meets Count Basie
The Cannonball Aderly Quintet - In San Fransisco**
John Coltrane - Blue Train**
Chris Botti - Night Sessions
Rock
Sting - Sacred Love
Blues
John Mayall & Friends - Along for the Ride
Bluegrass
Alison Krauss & Union Station - Live**
**These are getting a lot of air time at my place. -
Of course the original post did not mention what kind of music you prefer, or if you are 2 channel only SACD or multi-channel, but if you are into 5.1 SACD I highly recommend TOMMY. It is simply awsome. If you are into stereo only, then I highly recommend any SACD on the 88's label (jazz mostly) or any SACD on the Audio Fidelity label (all of them have been mastered by my friend Steve Hoffman).

The Doobie Brothers have some cool stuff, though, I dig them...can't really comment on his solo stuff though... -

The Doobie Brothers biggest selling album ever, THE CAPTAIN & ME, is out on DVD-A with a truly remarkable DTS 5.1 surround sound track and an audiophile quality 24 bit/ 192 khz stereo track. Well worth checking out.
RockyRocky Bennett -
Does it have both DVD-a and DTS on the same disc?
-
Most DVD-As contain a DTS track, and if they don't they contain a dolby digital track. But yes, THE CAPTAIN & ME DVD-A contains the following:
A DTS 5.1 surround sound track playable on all DVD players,
A high resolution 5.1 surround sound track (24 bit/96 khz) playable only on DVD-A players,
A high resolution (24 bit/192 khz) stereo only track playable only a DVD-A player,
A PCM dolby digital stereo only track playable on any DVD player.
Rocky
It is a really fantastic disc.Rocky Bennett -

You might want to double check that Rock, I believe you might be mistaken. -
Well I have to admit that my experience has been limited (I am an SACD person), but that has been my experience to date. I will check more tiles, but in the meantime I am sure about this Doobie Brothers disc.
RockyRocky Bennett -
I just checked my DVD-A's and found only 1 disc that contains a DVD-A and DTS tracks. Tchaikovsky 1812 Overature (telarc #DVDA-70541).
DVD-A and DTS can get a bit confusing. The one thing to keep in mind is that DVD-a is a Hi-rez format, but DTS is not. It is nothing more than a 5.1 channel disc encoded with the DTS specs. That's the simple explanation.
If you already knew that, well lets just leave it out there for those that didn't.;)
I've been trying to find a link to a comparison chart between SACD, DVD-A, DTS, but I seem to have lost/erased the bookmark. I'll try to find the link and post it here. It was an interesting read with lots of techno-babble.:D
On a side note, anyone else having a hard time going back to Redbook CD's after spending some quality time with SACD/DVD-a? -
Man...I'm gonna be broke this summer...

Listened to Michael McDonald's "Motown" SACD again last night. From start to finish.
On the most part, this is a great disc. The music, all past Motown hits, is well-suited to McDonald's voice. I suppose we all know how McDonald influenced the Doobies's sound when he joined. While McDonald's solo material has always been more pop than R&B oriented, the music on this SACD is definitely more old school R&B flavored. In many ways, I expected Michael McDonald to do an album just like this one. The only bad thing about this SACD is the damn drum machine....get a real drummer and some real drums, please. Not all the songs feature the drum machine, but the ones without it certainly sound much more organic. Aside from that, not a bad tune in the disc. Well worth the $14.99 I paid for it at Best Buy.
I certainly like it much better than Rod Stewart's attempts at singing standards.
Waiting for the upcoming SACD of "The Lamb" by Genesis. -
Danny,
you mentioned about Spandau Ballet's True SACD. I love to get one, but can't find anyone who carry them (tried CC online and Amazon, no luck) is it available in the US? Thanks....I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
polkatese,
The SACD of "True" by Spandau Ballet is not officially available in the US. I have to get it as an import from Amazon UK. Here's a link....
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008AB5C/qid=1081802726/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_11_7/202-0266037-7313451
The stereo hybrid SACD is a vast improvement over the domestic Spandau Ballet CDs. The remastering supervised by Gary Kemp, founder and chief songwriter of the group. You may also remember him as Whitney Houston's manager in the movie "The Bodyguard".
Here's a great review of the SACD to Spandau Ballet's "True"

Doro,
"Motown" was a big commercial success for Mike Mcdonald, turning platinum earlier this year. He's working on a follow-up. -
Danny,
thanks for the info..looks very promising! I wonder if Amazon US can get one as import?
EDIT: Is this the same one??:
