You have a $4000 budget, what would you buy?

Also Usher CP-6361, but its half your budget.
Only mentioning it not to say anything negative about Usher but he said he wanted speakers that could pass the "Enter Sandman" (Metallica) test, Ron told me Ushers are not good speakers for metal?afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

4k.. maybe a PA system.. a nice crown amp/mixing board combo and maybe some EV speakers. what is live music played thew a PA system, never actually heard anone have one in their home set up for anything but band practice but i bet you can get some recorded music to sound pretty awesome thew a PA.
for traditional home stereo if you have a strong amp and want a set of big honking speakers i think the floor standing LSiM series is a good choice. I have not heard many speakers in that price range. i did hear some B&W's and some focals that sounded good but your ear may or may not like those speakers. buy the ones that sound best to you in your price range. a few times i have ordered speakers blind and have not been completely happy.
every set of NHT speakers i have heard sounded really good maybe check some of those out if you can..

Haven't heard them, but have heard really good things about them. They have a RAAL tweeter.

Based on your criteria for buying new, I would also go Salk Sound. I've listened to many of his speakers at various price points and always left pleased. That's why I own them. You've got a nice list of speakers going so far, it's time to get out and start getting your ears on them._____________________________________________________________________________________________

1. Must be a floorstander
2. Will not be used with a sub
3. No electrostatics
4. MUST BE NEW
5. No "delicate flowers" it's got to ROCK
Here's a few I'm considering; MartinLogan Motion 60XT, Polk LsiM 707, PSB Imagine T2. Give me some more ideas...
Based on all suggestions, a few by those that never heard what they suggested. I could say this. You listed 707 and wanted dynamics. Not sure if anyone mentioned yet, but they are not.
LSIM's do lots good overall, but when among others in your range.. Not dynamic.
I see brands mentioned, they are not dynamic. Forward yes, bass heavy, yes as well. But not dynamic.
If dynamic, based on my experience, I would recommend Dyns and Ushers all the way. If you want dynamic and mids. This is your calling. I speak based on experience not reviews or hearsay.
Good luck! It is a journey!

Yeah but for 5500 only 1500 hundred over budget you will never find a better deal on a pair of Usher BE-10's far better pair of speakers than what you could find at 4k new, worth considering IMHO.Home Theater

Okay. Perfect. It's not about the money. So what do you plan to power it with?
Halen -
If it is not about the money...go to a 6k budget and look at more possibilities.
-
For now. Let's stick to the budget even though money is not a factor.
Let's get the power reserve before furthering.
Room Size. Check
Money. Check

Instead of assuming, let's get the facts. Assumptions cost to much to correct.
Halen -
You win. On all accounts. He asked speakers.
Like anyone that has a basic understanding of audio... the next best question is, what are you powering them with.
Room size has been accounted for. And money is unlimited. But sticking to $4k.
Okay okay. You win. Got it. So funny.Post edited by [Deleted User] on -

I see you mentioned Martin Logan Motion 60XT. I listen to the smaller bro the Motion 40 paired with a Sansui AU-6900 in my master bedroom. I really enjoy the quick lively sound. I had Elac Debut B6 in place previously and they sounded a bit laid back and boomy, but not terribly bad bass response from such a small and inexpensive box.

Here is the thing we all go to concerts for these live performances but we don't really encounter an line array of Wilson Grand Slamms right? Closest crossover from PA to home is JBL.
