Receiver crossover question

I've been using my Denon AVR-1803 for a few months now and I still have a question about the crossover setting. It can be set to 80 hz, 100 hz, or 120 hz. Does this mean that below the crossover frequency the sound is sent to the subwoofer AND the speakers or just the subwoofer. Since I'm using RTi38's in the front I'm worried that I'm losing bass potential.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes you are correct. it sends below to the sub, but why are you worried about losing bass potential from the 38's? Your not going to be getting a whole lot of bass from those more of the mid and let the sub pick up the rest. IMO i would set it at 80..or you could just try all of them and see what sounds best to your ears

Agree, I'd go with 80hz and not look back.

Thanks guys, you've probably answered that question 8 million times. The only reason I'm worried about losing bass is because my subwoofer is just the PSW202 which as you know, only goes 4 hz below the RTi38's. So I've pretty much been trying to find the best way to blend them together.Home:

Doro, may I ask how long you have had your setup? Maybe you could answer another question.
I've started to grow curious of the frequencies below what the PSW202 can handle. A friend of mine (he may have been B.S.'ing for all I know) told me kick drums can go down to 40hz these days, so I may not be hearing a good portion of my music or my movies. Have you ever felt like you're missing some sound with the 202 or do you think the extra range is not really worth an upgrade?Home:

There is a whole world of bass in the 35-15 Hz region. It must be experienced first hand to be fully understood and appreciated.
Consider upgrading as time and budget allows. Until then, make the best with what you have and enjoy it!
Agree with the 80 Hz xo on the 38's. Even though the rated extension might only be a little better, the 202 probably moves more air than the 38's in the 35-50 Hz range."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

No one has yet mentioned that with the 80 Hz X-over set, you still need to set the Front L&R to SMALL to be sure they are high passed at 80 Hz. If you leave them as LARGE, you will be getting a full range signal to the 38's.
Double check how you have the Front L&R set up.Bob Mayo, on the keyboards. Bob Mayo. -
I have the 202 and it does a decent job for the time being, there is better out there but also worse...work with what you have for the time being

Bok - Do I feel as though I am missing something? Hell yea but it serves its purpose for now. I like my PSW202, so it really hasn't been a huge priority to upgrade it right now.
