Sonos Connect: Amp??

Is a Sonos Connect: Amp enough to power my Polk Audio TSX 550t?

Tower speakers for master bedroom.

Thanks!

The Sonos Connect Amp is only 50wpc. Will you get sound? Of course. Will it be everything those speakers are capable of? Not really.

But then it is a bedroom system and you really should be doing the rockin' in other ways. ;)

Would a Def Tech W Amp perform better?

Eh, not really. Those type of devices are meant to drive bookies, not floor standers. Not with any authority anyway. Use a decent receiver or move down to easily driven bookies if you want to go that route.

Not sure it'll be helpful but...I have one Connect Amp. It's currently powering Infinity Primus P-152's in the beach garage. Never really pushed the volume in there, but they sound very good and I think they would be just fine at higher volume. I believe they are 88-90db.

I've also run DefTech SM45's (90db IIRC) and even Polk 11T's (90db maybe?). Again smallish room, good sound, lower volume levels.

Forgot to mention that this is an old Connect - probably 1st generation. Not sure if/how the specs may have changed through the years.

If all you want is lower volume sounds, then you can get by, but I think we all tend to push those limits at times and that's when trouble starts if your not in tune to whats going on with that speaker/power relationship.

It's not that you can't, just a recommendation I wouldn't make, especially to those who may get the urge to exercise that volume dial.
