Best way to connect my Marantz SR 5011 to my MacBook?

Tried using USB 3.0 cable but it won't connect

Does AVR have a DAC? Was able to connect my iPhone & play music

You could do Audioquest Dragonfly and 1/8" to unbalanced RCA cable.

    Just airplay man. Easy peasy.

The AVR does indeed have a dac. Did you select the right audio output on your mac when you connected via USB?

Still looking. I assume you connected a USB cable from the Macbook to the front USB port on the 5011. This won't work per page 59 of the manual. It will work with an ipad/iphone or an external hard drive - just not a computer.

Generally, for a USB to work with a computer you need a USB-B type connection on the receiver.

Thanks for help. Yes. I've tried connecting MacBook Air to Marantz via USB 3.0 cable. Did not work. Ordered a optical adapter and will try to connect that way.

Will keep you posted. Thanks again.

AirPlay will compress signal. Trying to play Tidal "Master" albums.

If you want to play MQA you're going to need a Meridian Explorer DAC.

We have another thread going on Tidal and the MQA needed for Tidal and the Master albums. You won't get that by plugging into the Marantz alone.
